Thinking of leaving Cingular (need your help)
I'm a current Cingular customer (been so since '02) my 2-yr. service agreement comes to an end Nov. 18. I'm in Los Angeles. I have an ancient Nokia 3390 and I'm desperately wanting to get the latest, most fashionable phone on the market when I get a new contract in 2 weeks.
I'm contemplating leaving Cingular for a new company. Why? Well, I want a fashionable top of the line video clamshell flip phone that records video, has a camera (with zoom), color screen, bluetooth, mp3 ringtones, games, etc. Currently, Cingular doesn't have a video flip phone. They only have the Nokia 6600 and I don't want that. I've been hearing massive talk about the Motorola RAZR V3, but I don't want to pay over $300 f...

What is TDMA?
Nevermind, I just found the answer to my question in the Glossary section.
P.S. Hope my advice helps 🙂 😁

I'm not sure if the z500a is exactly what you're looking for, but it's close, and offered exclusively by cingular. So exclusively, in fact, that I am thinking of switching providers myself just to get it with less hassle. However, I generally go with how I like the provider rather than the phones they offer since unlocking is so easy to do (although a little pricey sometimes).
Hey, thanks for this suggestion. I checked out this phone online and it seems like a pretty cool phone. Do you know if it can record video?
I'm definitely sticking around until Nov. 15 to see what phones Cingular has before I make my new 2 yr. decision.
Someone on the z500 forum said recently that it will be released for Cingular the week of 11/22, but you never can tell; it's been pushed back a few times.
I'm with T-Mobile, and I mentioned thinking about switching to Cingular in my previous post. I, too, am a little wary about the merger, though, and the quality of customer service when there are so many customers. I'll have to wait and see, I guess. Good luck finding a phone that "fits you best"!
I'm sorry, please excuse my impudence...
I think you might want to look at the prices of the calling plans and the quality of the network itself as well as the prices of the phones. You're going to be spending an awful lot of money for your service, more than you will be spending on your phone. What good is a phone w/ all the bells and whistles if you can't make a call or send a message?
I don't mean to offend you on that since I don't know your account history, but certainly it sounds to me like you want to nickel and dime a company.
I just read a newspaper article in which Best Buy wants to rid of those customer, just like banks, insurance, colleges, and trading firms do.
Good luck in finding what you want rather than what you need.
Yes, I work for warranty exchange. ATTWS doesn't hold the warranty on the equipment (manufacturer does), but we offer an exchange service so customers don't have to send their phones off to the manufacturers and await repairs. We expedite refurbished phones to these customers... for a small fee.
I hear so much cursing about "poor customer service" and "not standing behind our products" and "I don't like those options; they are unacceptable" or even "I'll cancel my service if you don't send me a new phone" that I really just want to say, "hey, if you...

1) Sprint and Verizon run CDMA
2) ATTWS will no longer have exclusive phones due to the buyout
3) Cingular will be rolling out with a new lineup after Nov. 15th which are what you're looking for.
You may go to Sprint for the immediate need but you will quickly realize the limited rate plan options, and the poor network. If you're up for an upgrade go with that option... It's about the only way you'll get one of these phones for cheap.
