BB Storm Marketing Blitz finally! And yes it will be out this weekend!!!

The Storm is definitely coming out by this weekend. It doesnt take a rocket scientist genius to figure this out. So disregard any bs that anyome here says its delayed cause of this or that, or that Best buy hasnt officialy confirmed 11/16 or that Grandma got run over by a reindeer so it wont be out til Black Friday, blah blah blah....

The plain and simple fact of all the marketing hype going in this week is a definite indicator youy will see the Storm in best Buy this Sunday and VZ stores on Monday.

Marketing:
1) All this week there is a treasure hunt in NYC to find their Storm stuff and win a storm.

2) This Thursday there will be a giant booth setup in the middle of Times Square allowing streetgoers to see and touch the new Storm....

No way BestBuy will sell it before Verizon. I also don't think it will be in stores this weekend but it might online/phones sales only. I say possibly an announcement Wednesday.

Wow you're not the sharpest tool in the shed are you.

Im just gonna run down you 1-6. mmmmkay?

1. phones dont get shipped out for 4-6 weeks, so this has no bearing on the phone release, they are just building hype and taking advantage of viral marketing on blogs.

2. More free viral marketing, they can still release the phone whenever they want.

3. Building hype once again, and you may have noticed that the commercials have ramped up a bit. My guess is that the last one will have the pricing and release date.

4. BB's already require a new data plan, this is really more important to future palm/WM users who will now have to get a data plan if they upgrade. Only way it affects berry users is that they cant use the 10MB 24.99 p...

I take it you work for Verizon. It is those employees that are the DULL tools in the shed. They are always the last to be informed of everything and are always brainwashed by the upper mngmt. They keep their employees uninformed so they dont release info to the public prematurely of when their marketing team wants the info released. Similar to Steve Jobs and Apple. So run back to your Verizon store, I think there is a customer patiently waiting for useless assistance.

We will touch back this Sunday and I will say "I told ya so".

BTW, keep your grandma out of the woods this week. We dont want her to get run over by a reindeer and cause further delays of the Storm.

Actually I dont work for verizon or in the wirless industry at all.

And Im not being dull, Im just not going to stir up a bunch circumstantial evidence and start spouting it off as fact.

Your just ranting bro, the phone will be out when it comes out. Stop acting like a child and when verizon releases their press release (which they will) we can all stop guessing.

It will be out when its out. And thats exactly my case in point. Im tired of everyone here speculating false rumors of delay and posting a million posts fo "When is it gonna be out?" So my point is to inform the public the obvious so we can close the case of when its gonna be out.
Thee answer is ....

THIS WEEKEND!

It doesn't take a Peter Falk to figure this out.

BUT YOU DONT KNOW FOR SURE.

Thats my point, you start a thread as if you have some concrete evidence, but you dont. you pieced together an opinion based assorted blog posts.

I does no good for us to argue, I'll see you on the 16th and we can see if you're right.

Again, its not rocket science. No concrete evidence is needed. All the factual data of events and schedules happening around Verizon along with historical data allows any educated person to make an accurate prediction. And I mean 99.9% accurate. That .01% is if Grandma gets run over by Rudolph.

If you live your life by concrete data, then you cant assume that a baby is born 9 months after conceiving. You must wait and see. (Of course a rare preemee comes along and thats the .01%). You also cant assume that Obama will be President on Jan 20, 2009. What if god forbid something happens to him and he gets run over by Rudolph on Jan 18th? Well, then we gotta wait til he rcovers. Or if he doesnt, then its Biden to become the President.

Whats with the ridiculous analogies?

And this is the second time you brought up Grandma and rudolph...do I smell weird sexual fantasy?

The only historical data I need is this. Verizon always releases a press release for big phone releases.

--Voyager, Dare, Pearl, Curve, etc.

They don't release it without a press release. Like I said before, I'll believe a release date when I see a press release. See you on the 16th, and do you need my address so you can send me my storm? 🙂

The Storm training needs to be done by the 16th.

Don't bank on $220.

Across the retail enterprise corporate quietly enforced a "heavy scheduling needed" request for the 14th through the weekend. They say it's a traditionally busy weekend. Anyone who's worked retail before knows that the closer you get to Black Friday, the quieter it gets.

Someone else said it takes 4-6 weeks to ship out phones. The phones are in the warehouses. My best guess is that the product code is BB9530T, and I'm not about to provide information on how I came to speculate on the SKU.

The software has gone through four revisions in the last month. Once the final software gets the green light, the phones are flashed with software, boxed up, taped up, and...

I agree! And its another case in point why it will be out this weekend. Also keep in mind that Verizon's partner Vodaphone will officially have it out this weekend in Europe as well.

Just keep Grandma away from the reindeer and we will get our Storms.

Hey Vinsideguy, thank you VERY much for the scoop. By the way is there anyway you or someone can speculate on which other phones coming out next week, anything with a QWERTY ?

The Sammy i770 should be out in the next week or so, as will the Omnia (touch screen).

I've played with (and can talk about) the Omnia. It's ok. I had an i760 for three quarters and really enjoyed it, despite the awkward interface and design. The Omnia will please those who want a fashionable and mostly functional WM6.1 device. Still, Windows Mobile and touch-only devices tend to be less user-friendly (I'm currently carrying a Curve and a XV6900, so I can attest to the simplicity of buttons and the awkwardness of WM without a keyboard).

I know some people who've field-tested the i770 (Saga, think it's called), who call it the Crapjack (essentially, another Blackjack device, which none of them like). For some, the smartphone style ...

V,
Thanks for the update. Funny thing i too had the XV6900 and just as of 1 week ago bought the BB curve. Good thing i still have 30 days, if the storm comes out before dec 1 i should be able to exchange it and hopefully not have to pay too much of a difference to what ever the storm's price is.

Thanks.

If there's anything I've learned in seven years with big red, it's this: never say never.

We were never going to have unlimited text. Or unlimited minutes. We were never going to be #2. We were never going to have RAZR. We were never going to have a lot of things. And while corporate management may have even promoted "nevers" from time to time, even they were put in their place.

Don't hold your breath. The Storm may come tomorrow. It may come this weekend. It's coming. It's just a matter of time.

We will never have $9.99 add a lines.

vinsideguy

Nov 12, 2008, 1:52 AM
Oh hell, we were told time and time again that the old $20 add-a-line was about $10 less than monthly cost to maintain the line. We would never go any lower than $20 because we were already shooting ourselves in the collective feet.

But then, customer volume became the all-mighty goal, and the $10 we were p|ssing away became $20. It became more important to show the number of adds and overall customer count, and we learned we could recoup that profit with outdated text plans.

Ah, the good old days.

Best buy never release phone before a corporate store does, unless it is a exclusive phone for best buy or circuit city. The training has been delayed for a week. All of your guess were good, but not good enough. Around the 21st is the date, and the price of 219.99 maybe incorrect.

Thats not true!

The Sprint HTC Touch Pro was released at best Buy a full 9 days before it was available at Sprint Corporate. I know cause I bought one at Best Buy 2.5 weeks ago. (The phone is great but Sprint service is weak. Gonna return it before 30 days.)

So expect Best Buy to have the Storm this weekend.

Nov 12, 2008, 2:08 AM
You're talking about a Sprint phone. Sprint would sell it's own mother to the highest bidder. If they had no bidders, they'd give her away just to be able to claim the "sale."

We're talking about Verizon, here. Unless VZW is looking to move their Circuit City stores to Best Buy once CC shuts down, don't expect VZW to be giving them any extra love like that.
