0.002 cents

I just to want present my 2 opinions about the subject matter above.

1. I believe with a good amount of certaintity that the customer knew full well what the charge was and took advantage of the situation. How can u believe the charge is 0.002 of a cent? That's a riduclous charge and just doesn't make sense.

2. Saying that EVERYBODY at Verizon Wireless is dumb is not right. All 50,000 + employees are dumb because of the mistake of a handful reps doesn't make sense. The only person I can think of who'd make such an absolute statement is Darth Vader and he's not even real.

Thanks for listening

In response to 1.

Firstly, the customer had an unlimited plan in the US, so he does not have any context for the price per kB.

Secondly, the customer called in to find out the price, triple-checked that it was correct, and had them notate the account accordingly.

Lastly, you say "that is a ridiculuous charge and just doesn't make sense". Welcome to the world of wireless. Considering the numerous bullshit charges and fees to begin with, your statement is incongruous with the current state of the wireless industry.

In response to 2.

They aren't all dumb, but there certainly is more then a handful.

More to the point, those people lack a basic grasp of grade school elementary math.

If the computer can't give them the c...

In the blog its self there are multiple statements in absolute - that's where I derived that from.

Regardless of having a data plan prior or not .002 still doesn't make sense.

I'm really sorry that the customer had to go through this and witness these mistakes but to record the calls and make t shirts and post a blog is just ridiculous.

Prior to this the reps references all just said $.002 so it was a mistake.

There are a lot of reps that are dumb with any carrier because not much is required of them, as long as they sell, the high ups don't care. I used to work with a guy who would straight up lie about stuff and he was the dumbest guy ever but he sold the most phones so know one cared. He was part of the reason I quit and I unleashed a verbal fury on him one day.

Also, college degrees are few and far between for wireless reps, but when someone does have one, combined with good social skills, then you have someone you can count on.

Since when does having a college degree have to do with being a good wireless rep? Or a smart individual in general?

Never has, never will.

People honestly place too much emphasis on a college degree. Guess what? There are stupid people with degrees. Lots of them. Yup.

On the other side of that, you have lots of people with no degrees who are highly skilled, and genuinely knowledgeable (not to mention profitable) in their respective fields.

In the case of the whole .002 cents debacle, I can understand how those reps didn't comprehend the difference between .002 cents and .002 dollars. Math is just not that simple for everyone. Yes, for the majority of us it is that simple, but unfortunately for these reps it was not. How...

Wow, I can't believe this is still being discussed. Credit him, explain to him for future reference the correct charge, educate the employees for future instances and change the pricing scheme on the computers to make it easier to understand and relay that information to the customer. "$0.002 DOLLARS"

Isn't it more easily underestood as .2 cents? I guess I have a math oriented mind but no one ever says to me that, "A cup of coffee costs .50 dollars." I believe people can comprehend .2 cents whether or not it is not a real dollar amount.

So every one understands!

1 pound does not = 1 ounce
1 foot does not = 1 inch
1 dollar does not = 1 penny
1 penny does not = 1 dollar

I think we all can agree to that.

SO!

.002 pound does not = .002 ounce
.002 foot does not = .002 inch
.002 dollar does not = .002 penny
.002 pennies does not = .002 dollars

SO!

1 pound * 35893 = 35893 lbs
1 foot * 35893 = 35893 feet
1 dollar * 35893 = 35893 dollars
1 cent * 35893 = 35893 cents

SO!

.002 pounds * 35893 = 71.786 lbs NOT OUNCES
.002 foot * 35893 = 71.786 ft NOT INCHES
.002 dollars * 35893 = 71.786 dollars NOT CENTS
