2. What current VZW phone do you have and why?

3. What is your favorite VZW phone of all time?

4. What would be your ulitimate phone; only stipulation is that u can only use existing VZW phone parts or specs.

1. Had to look this one up, but its been a little over 2 years (NOV 2004)

2. I currently use the 8300, almost bought the enV, but I couldn't handle the small font on both of the screens.

push/pull email

if you had push email, why would you need pull?

Push and Pull are different. The best way to think about it is push goes from the server to ur phone and pull goes from ur phone back to server.

I know push and pull are different. I was asking why he wanted pull if he already had push.

That's a good point. Push technology works by 1st pulling the email from the server then pushing it to the phone with no human intervention.

Dec 22, 2006, 5:58 PM
so, the bottom line is...

Push--you can send and recieve from various email servers.

Pull--You can pull the messages from the server, but you cannot respond to them.

Is that sbout right?
...
schnozejt

Dec 22, 2006, 6:21 PM
Not necessarily.

The best way to think of pushed email is with text msgs. U receive txt msgs the instant (for the most case) they are sent with out u doing anything. Blackberries on a Blackberry Enterprise Server work the same way; emails sent are received almost instantly. The email is pulled automatically from the server the automatically pushed to the device.

With pull email u can respond to them but the only difference is that the user manually initiates the pull by either pressing "send/receive" on the pda or having it done in a set timed interval done through the settings of pda.

1)I have been viewing PS for two years and enjoy this site very much.

2) I'm currently sporting the LG 8300 and believe it to be the best phone I've used in my ten years with verizon. I pretty much buy any verizon phone that looks half way appealing to me, my last purchase being the Gzone.

In Korea, high-end Pantechs are highly regarded. Don't judge Pantech on the low-end junk we've seen so far on Verizon. It'd be like saying VX8300 is a POS cause I had a VX3100 a few years ago and it was a POS.

It will have the same UI from the CDM9900 but will support Java and have Opera web browser. It will have the camera from the A990. The casing will be like the U740 but with a much bigger screen and screen quality of the CDM9900. The RF processor will be that of the StarTAC or E815. And of course it will have a memory card slot and 3.5mm headphone port

2) E815 cause it is best reception phone available
3) LG TM510 - graetest phone of it's day. First reasonably priced clamshell.

1) I've been a member with PS since I started working at Sprint 2 1/2 years ago. Sidenote: I managed a Sprint 3rd party store for about 8 months in '04 which ended with me suing and winning against my old boss. Then I did hard time in a retail store in a mall. Talk about hell, threatened, harassed, lied to, all in a days work.

2)I have the LG EnV right now, I've had it for 2-3 weeks, and of the phones i have had with verizon including the 700w and others, the EnV is absolutely perfect for me. I still love it, and I go thru phones fast.

3)If I could have had the 700w with cheaper data and a faster windows OS I would have been happy as a clam...oh yeah, better screen res too.

Anyway, I love this thread too, good job schnoze.

1. How long have you been a member of PS?
over a year

2. What current VZW phone do you have and why?
LGvx 8100 and 8300. I use my 8100 more b/c I like the ability to read the txt on the exterior screen, the 8300 I use the VZ nav if I go on a trip.

3. What is your favorite VZW phone of all time?
LG 8100 or Moto E815

4. What would be your ulitimate phone; only stipulation is that u can only use existing VZW phone parts or specs.

Big screen phone but not a PDA, EV-DO, and MediaFLO capable to watch tv (next month), E815 RF, a track wheel or something like an iPod jog shuttle, hidden keypad, stereo speakers, Full BT including stereo BT, OBEX, features of the a990 would be cool too, 3.2 MP camera with video out for pix/flix or Media...

The thing that made the StarTAC so great was the reception, and since that is an old phone, the FCC didn't have as strict regulations on the power of the handset. that is why the starTAC was great for recption, it worked off SO much power, but it also gives you a tumor in your head 👀 Therefore, there will probably never be another phone as good as the StarTAC as far as reception. However, the E815, RAZR V3m, KRZR K1m, and LG 8300 are pretty dang good 😎

favorite phone of all time right now...would be a tie between lg 9800 and the lg 8100.

Ultimate phone would be an lg 8600 looking phone without finger prints with the 3.2 megapixel camera and swivel factor from the samsung 990 and a keyboard like the 9800.
