Well Verizon is better than Sprint with postpaid and attracting people to get its voice product with a great network.

Well, it is true and it makes sense based on trends, but Verizon does have some problems though and I am sure you know them. I will state a few; horrible prepaid, not so great EV-DO with their Vcast system. Not really any plans to go to 4G after their REV A upgrade. I think they have some serious problems especially against newbie T-mobile, Cingular and Sprint.

So yes, Verizon is better than Sprint in what I mentioned earlier, but they are not good in the other ones that I just mentioned.

Any ideas of how they can try to improve on those problems they have?

I agree on VCAST, which seems to be overpriced and lacking in content. Not sure on 4g until I see how Rev. A goes (I'd like to see how well they can execute, which is more important than merely planning).

As for prepaid, it should be obvious that they don't want most of the prepaid market. However, if they mostly want the high end of the prepaid market, they need to be sure their data offerings for prepaid are similar to the ones for postpaid customers. I don't think ignoring low-revenue prepaid customers is any more of a problem than not having an individual line $19.99/mo. postpaid plan.

Why does there need to be VCAST, it is a waste of space. Who is actually sitting there wishing that they could watch clips on their phone when they can watch TV or use a DVD player or a laptop or a mini dvd player. VCAST, in my opinion, isn't worth the money to me, and I would like to ask someone who had it to see how they liked it personally, but the people down here that I know that tried it out on the free trial were telling me it wasn't it worth it for free.

Oh yea and VZ Navigator, now that is useful except one small prob, it shouldn't go against your minutes if you have to pay over a hundred bucks a year.

Though on a side note in Houston, its not worth it inside the city, because if you don't know where you are going, then y...

Vznavigator uses a very small amount of minutes! The only time min. are used is when it is intially downloading or reevaluting the route which does not take long at all! vcast isn't too bad if you have some time to kill and with the package you also get unlimited mobile web!

Well that is why it would be a waste of money down here. So much construction, plus the route they give isn't the best route. I mean it is a nice concept, but right now its just a cool thing to have and not real practical everywhere in the country.

I agree with your assessments.

Prepaid is quite essential even though it is at lower margins but if you can maximize ARPU and lower churn, you will be quite strong. Look at Boost- perfect example.

Those lower postpaid are also hurting margins because it is quite expensive for signing up customers on postpaid than on prepaid; so if they can get both they will be successful. I think they should do away those $19.99 plans and lower than around $30 and just put them on the prepaid since it wont eat into margins on the postpaid than prepaid.
