RAZR V3m versus LG VX8300

After reading forums on both phones I am still not sure which is the better of the phones. All I want to do with the phone is talk, txt message, maybe check email, download ringtones, customize wallpaper. I don't need to play music since I already have an iPod. I have always had Motos so a LG is totally new for me. The salesperson at the Verizon store was very helpful but I want to know what the actual phone users have to say about it.

Well, both phones do the music, both phones have camera. Both phones download ringtones, games, etc.... Both phones do well with signal. Our customer ratings out of my store is pretty much 50/50 when it comes to who likes what better. But company wide (13 soon to be 20 stores) the 8300 is getting better marks. It's durable, excellent sound quality, clear speakerphone, etc...

My personal experience, go with LG over Moto ANYDAY! I had a terrible time with Moto wanting to uphold their warranty, both personally and business related. There aren't any Moto service shops within 100 miles of me (central illinois), but LG will go the extra mile to be sure their customers are satisfied. Moto just wants you to drive all over hell and back. ...

Thanks for your input. I just hate to get a phone and decide after a week that I really don't like it and return it and start all over again. Looks like I am now leaning towards the 8300. Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

If you have small hands and fingers youll like the LG. The buttons on this phone are small, stuck half way down the bottom of the phone...if you dial one handed you have to hold the bottom half way down where the buttons are...the phones finish is slick so it can fly out of your hands easy. You will have none of these problems with the v3m.

To do anything on the V3m you have to do seem edits if you want to make your own ringtones, play mp3s, ring/vib, etc. (I could on and on).

I personally am not a fan of the RAZR. I don't get what is so good about it. Sure, it's thin and everything, but at the same time it's really wide. Flip open the RAZR and flip open the 8300 and look at the difference in the screens. The difference is extremely apparent.

The 8300 has the good flash UI, the moto doesn't. The 8300 has a camera flash, the moto doesn't. The memory card is easily accesible on the 8300, on the RAZR you have to take off the battery cover and flip the phone over.

I could keep going on and on about the 8300 vs V3m. I have had the 8300 for a few days and it is defintely one...

Thanks for your input. I was just on VZW website and had the opportunuty to chat with a representative and it has to be the worst experience of my life 😢 So here I am back to where real people give me honest opinions of the phones. Thanks again! 😁

Both are excellent. Go to the store and play with each one. Pick the one you like. You won't go wrong with either one.

VX8300 hands down!

Motorola, and more specifically the Razr, is just awful. Went through 5 in 7 months. I have the 8300 now and no, its not perfect, but it is head and shoulders far better than the Razr.

i have the 8300 but before i got it i was also looking at both phones.

my friend, who has the v3m, showed me his phone and i almost immediately decided not to get it. the screen quality is far inferior to that of the LG, and it seems like my LG can make calls when his cannot (not proven, just observed a few times when we'd both make calls from the same place). Also, i like how you can customize the UI on teh 8300. this is my 2nd LG phone and i could not be happier with it.

Hey thank you Tam2gab for starting this form! I am up for renewal 09/18 and have looked at several message boards about these 2 phones. I had the LG 4500 now have the LG 6100 (have had a few issues) so after reading this forum I am going to stay with LG and get the 8300. Thanks to all the VZW people for their input. 😁

I can't agree more!! The sales people aren't going to commit to one particular phone but she suggested this site. So thanks to Jo at my local Verizon store. The other thing that I have heard is that the software on the RAZR freezes up making the phone useless. Does anyone know if this happens?

I made the choice between the Razr V3M and the 8300 about three weeks ago.
The deal maker FOR the RAZR was 2 issues-
First was all the bluetooth problems with the 8300, and the fact that the RAZR is smaller than the 8300 which is kind of 'thick'.
Eventhough it has a low res camera, another option would be the Samsung 870, which has the best form factor of any phone in Verizon's line up. I would, however, run several test calls, to your existing phone (turned off) and check out the audio of your voice, since there have been negative comments about the transmit audio.
V3m
I have had zero issues with any freeze ups on the V3M.
Battery life. I use BT, and have been averaging 180 minutes talk time on a charge.
RF. I find that I d...

My roommate has two razors the M and the C..I have used both. I have the 8300 and i love this phone. it beats the razors anyday of the week. thats just my own opinion but you can do a lot more with the 8300 than the razor. you cant even chage the front wallpaper on the razor and the outter screens arent anywhere near as good as the 8300...So if I was you get the 8300 and you will be very happy...
