Hey ya'll- just a quick question/comparison. I live in Iowa (ya, ya i know), but I've been using us cellular the past 2 years, and my contract is now up. I've been researching and thinking bout switching to Verizon because they have way more phones and I dont want to pay mucho bucks for a crappy phone at USC. Anybody have some good facts about verizon that compare to USC? Because I dont really have any complaints about USC's service or anything...just their dumb phones! Oh yea and I pay about 60 bucks a month for my plan of 1000 minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, and $5 for 250 texts and $10 for unlimited use of easyedge (which is their service for downloading music/games)...anything similar to that at Verizon? Thanks a bunch!

well thanks so much for the info!! im guessing you work at Verizon? or you just know your stuff. I can just go to a Verizon store and tell them to port my number, correct? since my 2 year contract is up with USC...I dont really need to go to their store and tell them anything. Thnx again!

correct you can tell them you have a USCC number you wish to port and they can get it done for you at the store.

one quick note dont disconnect ur uscc account until you bring the number over. oh yeah also with the music sure to get a memory card and you can get songs through xp with media player 10 for 0.99 and just use the software and usb cable for 39.99 to transfer to phone. also could just get songs from your own cds and put on phone. pretty cool. oh yeah it is wma not mp3s but mp should convert for you. ok i need to breathe. 😳

Why do reps insist that you need the customers account number YOU DON'T. Every time (other than nextel) I have ported I simply enter 0123456789 as the account number and it ports just as if I had the acct number and just as quick. By insisting for an account number you are costing yourself sales.
The only company that requires the acct # is nextel and alot of times they have a stupid "number guard" on the account anyway and you have to call 20 different people and get transferred 20 different times to get the stupi thing lifted Damn I hate nextel ports

1) Depending on what billing system you are in, edits are in place to filter out fake account nummbers. (what system are you in?) You are correct that in most instances it will work w/o the correct account #, but when other information in the port request doesn't match, and it results in a fallout, this is where you wish you would have taken the time to request this from your customer. Taking shortcuts will bite you in the ass in the long run.

2) nextel has a direct number guard removal #. This was listed in an M&P Previously.

3) Drop the attitude.
