End of life for the E815!?!?!

I received first hand information from the Motorola representative that the E815 is end of life. Not surprising since it has been out over a year. Motorola is considering putting Bluetooth in the 325 as a replacement.

He said they will not be adding that to the 325 since they now offer the Razor with that capability. He also mentioned a VZW version of the Sliver. 🙄

I was considering the E815 as my next phone because of the great reviews but think it's a little ugly and don't need all the extras - if they put bluetooth on the 325 that'd be perfect for me🙂

Hmmmmm - Now not sure what to do.....wait & see what happens? My luck E815 will be discontinued, 325 will go unchanged, and some POS (sorry fans!) like razr will replace E815...what to do what to do....

e817 is rumored to be in development... e815 with the usual draconian restrictions, but it loses the 2.5mm stereo jack and switches to the horrible USB charge port... BAH! Oh, and it has the Verizon UI. ☹️

The USB charger would not be a bad thing. You don't know how many customers refuse to buy a new car charger. They use the same old car charger that they've used for years. It ruins their new phone. I've seen issues with the 815,710, V60 style chargers for years. I've not encountered any major problems with the USB type charger.

Heh, my main gripe with it would be that all my headsets (1x HS810, 2x HS850) use the 3 pin job...

Personally my feelings are that the USB standard wasn't "designed" to be used as a charger... Yeah it supplies power, but so do telephone sockets...

The main benifit of a USB port is that it provides power, that's why you can use a USB flash drive without having to supply power. The mini USB port that is used to charge the phone is also the same port that is used to sync the phone(if you use wired sync instead of bluetooth), the USB port is also much sturdier than what Motorola uses.
