Does anyone have any new information on this handset? I am/was really looking forward to seeing it produced and wondered if anyone had anything juicy to share. I mainly wanted to know if it would be a tri-mode phone and also if it would have the new Verizon flash UI the old UI or be blessed with it's own. Thanks.

I think it's coming out in the next few weeks. It will have VZW GUI. I'm excited for it!

Water Resistant and 2.0 megapixel! 😎

Not to be overly skeptical but do you have any real information to back this claim or is it just rumored?

No rumors here. VZW Nav, V Cast, etc! 🙂

I had heard similar stuff, although I would still concider it rumor as I haven't seen the phone in person. I like features as much as the next guy, but i figure if your gonna build it to be military grade, why not drop some of the extra features and reduce the cost. Assuming this info is correct I don't think it needs a 2.0 mp camera or vcast. Bluetooth is good, navigator is good, but the other stuff isn't necessary. IMO anyway

either way I look forward to the phone

Sounds better and better ... But I still wonder how this will all play out. Does anyone have specs on the size/colors or any general links besides the back of the phone? And also, I don't recall ever hearing if it were going to be dual or tri-mode. Will it be a nice chunk of change? And finally will be get it from Casio or Hitachi or just Verizon? Questions Questions.

There have been a few pics of it, just google "verion g zone". I'm sure there will be some cosmetic changes, but the general look and feel should be similar. As far as size, its BIG, at least by todays standards. If it is a VCAST phone, and i stress IF, then it won't be trimode. As far as cost, it should be expensive. If i had to guess full retail would be around $500 so with contract probably $350 or so (complete guess).

here is the jap website. Just follow the pictures http://gzone.jp/

phone was anounced 6 months ago as a future verizon phone. it has been available, in japan in think for a while and is popular there. rumor was it would take 6 to 9 months to bring it to market . so we're right on the cusp of it being available... just a guess but i suspect it will have less g-whiz stuff than some phones.

i need a waterproof phone. expect this to be a big seller in certain markets. i know of no other phone available that you can submerge in water and it still works.. some nextel phones are 'tuff' but not waterproof as far as i know...

does anyone actually have a pic of this phone being submerged and still working? I find that hard to believe. water resistant yeah but totally waterproof would be absolutely amazing for an electronic device.

It is water resistant. If you google G'zone you should be able to find a picture of it underwater.

there was an electronics expo or cellphone vendor or some similar show ni the US and they had it in an aquarium with fish swiming around it and it was working..

check this site out for a similar demo of its toughness..

I found something quite interesting ... a Korean Model LG that bares a striking resemblance to what we have been anticipating.
