Termination Fee Reimbursement?

Ok here's the deal.

Walked into a VZW retailer (non-corporate) store, they said if I sign up at the end of the month and port my number over I can receive a reimbursement of $150 for my termination fee with Nextel. Some sort of customer appreciation day deal.

Has anyone hear of this? I went into a corporate store and they said they never heard of such a thing.

I have not heard of Verizon doing anything like that in the 5+ years I have been selling the service. It may be something the independednt retailer is doing to spark sales, but I doubt it as they would gain little if no profit.

Be very carefull of this.

My boss bought a set of stores from another indirect agent. Inturn, he also got a bunch of customers saying the previous owner "promised thier ETF was waived" and he had to shell out a whole bunch of $$$ as the previous onwer never paid any of the customers ETFs.

That sounds sketchy dude, beware.

The name of the retailer is Gizmo Wireless. Anyone heard of them?

ahh, with Gizmo in the name... hrmm i'd find it really hard to take their word for anything.

IF it were me, I'd make them give me a great deal on a phone.. say IF a phone were $150 at the 2-year price.. better ring up free 🙂 that's what im talkin about. GET paid up front!

Second that one.

Make them "pay for it" upfront. They would still get residuals. But still, Gizmo? Ehhh I dont know... 😕

why do you just get it in writing and then sign up. It's easier to prove in court 😉

Why spend more of your money to go to court over something like this?

Eiether get it upfront off the price of the phone or find a nother (probly more reputable) retailer.

Just because it's "in writing" does not make it binding. Read the Verizon T&C's and you will find that even if something is written on the contract, if it is contrary to Verizon policies or pricing, it is invalid.

I deal with this all the time when an indirect agent gives "free activation". It may be written on the contract but that doesn't matter since new lines are charged activation.
