Okay-I went to switch my service over from Sprint and I wanted the 4600(interent only) and when the transaction was complete-I was asked for a $400.00 deposit-THATS RIGHT $400.00 DEPOSIT. Now I'd like Verizon but I'm not about to pay a deposit that outragous and beleive me I'm going to get a copy of my credit report to see why I'd warrant such a large amount-Anyway question is if I went to the store could the sales guy help me(waive this nutty deposit) or am I just wasting my time

The reps have no power over waiving a deposit. The decision comes from the credit bureau's. So unless they pay it for you I'm sorry to say it is a waste of time. Sucks. 😕

First off yes, check your credit report and see if there's anything fishy there. But I actually had part of my deposit waived.

I was a Sophomore in college and although I had done nothing to damage my credit I had a very limited credit history. I actually went over to switch from Sprint to start a Cingular account and they wanted a $1000 deposit. No way I even had the money to pay that or would agree to. I walked down to the Radio Shack which was an authorized Verizon retailer and told them my story. They told me they would only charge a max $250 deposit. While the Radio Shack guy was on the phone with Verizon to activate the phone apparently Verizon asked for a higher deposit and the Radio Shack guy simply said "No, we're going to do $2...

Why are you complaining - clearly your credit is not perfect and they need a refundable deposit. If you don't have $400, you can't afford a cell phone anyhow, so stop living outside your means, pay your bills on time, and this won't happen in the future.

First off-I "NEVER" said I didn't have $400.00-I said that I'm not about to drop $400.00 for a deposit for "ANYBODY" The "ONLY" reason I planed to switch was because of the recent flux of dropped calls with Sprint. And I "DO" pay my bills on time and thats why I was at a loss as to why the would even want a deposit less one that large. But not to worry we have a company discount with AT&T Wireless and I spoke to the rep he ran my app thru and I "GOT" my phone-with no deposit. So am I happy "YES" and I've spoken to some other company employees who have AT&T and their happy as well So all is well on my end-CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW VERIZON!!!!!!!

Unfortunately sometimes weird **** like that happens. You should have gone into a store & had an associate rerun your credit. He could then have called the credit escalation line & they probably would have approved it.

Evidently the algorithm VZW uses for credit approval freaks out every now & then & hits people with unnecessary deposits. I usually call EVERY application in if there's a deposit on it; about 50% of the time, it'll get waived or lowered.

Sorry you got boned like that. You've got 30 days with ATTWS to cancel your contract without penalty, maybe you should give VZW another chance to get it right.
