The Power of Bluetooth (will Verizon ever learn?)

A friend of mine bought one of the first Sony Ericsson phones that had bluetooth. He would walk into his apartment and his Macintosh would automatically launch iTunes and start playing a song. If he didn't like the song he could press a button on the phone to change to the next song. It would also automatically sync with his calendar. It would also check to see if he changed any of the phone numbers in the address book on the phone and update them with the address book on the computer and vice-a-versa. which means he didn't have to remember to change a phone number in more than one address book.

All of this happened when he walked in the door of his apartment and got within 15 feet of the computer for the bluetooth handshake. he di...

Look Verizon is the Oldsmobile of Carriers. I would bet most of the users are older who do not keep up with technology and use the phone as ...well a phone. Thats what it's primary purpose is. But Gen Xers and younnger are technically savy and want the "useless" features dad has no idea about.

Another poster said it. Verizon will not offer things like great BT that until they become as common as caller ID.. and that will be Verizon's swansong. I hear and read of more Verizon users becoming more and more upset with Verizons lack of choices and stubbornness to change.

Can you hear them now Verizon? You will!

Your quote:

>>So most phones won't be made with it for Verizon until bluetooth is like caller ID and is pretty much required by all consumers.

Hi Guys!
I just switched to Verizion in Jan. I really want a BT phone now. Are there any rumors out there when they may have it? I called their CS Dept and they refered me to this site. :-)

Thanks!

Bluetooth is awesome. It is such a pain to open my powerbook, click on the itunes icon, then pick a song--I could delete all of those pain in the but steps.

The calendar sync is pretty cool if:
A: Your life is so busy that you need a calendar
B: Your life is so busy that you cant spare a few minutes to update your calendar.

Last time I called a friend whose # got changed, I edited it on the spot to the correct #.

The iSight video conferencing would be cool too, if I havent seen my kids, wife, family, and friends in less than or equal to 2 days.

Conclusion: Bluetooth is awesome if your life is so busy that you need to shave off a few minutes or your too lazy to push a few buttons.

Sarcasm detector: ORANGE ALERT

Well said, who need's technology!? All those poeple who were so busy that they needed to go 60 mph instead of a normal trot on a horse-drawn buggy were just freaks. Cars are nice if you NEED to go that fast, but the rest of the world will probably just walk all the time...

Or...

Sure having a calculator is nice, if you are so dense you can't do long division in your head, but truethfuly most people will not see a need to own a calculator. It's a tool mainly for scientists and mathemeticians...

or...

Computers are a cool toy, but only businesses and goverments really need them. The home PC will be owned by a few techno-phyles but will never become widespread.

End Sarcasm level MAUVE ALERT.
