Does anyone have any thoughts about this new wireless directory they are going ot come out with? I feel like this is going to arouse some problems with customers calling up asking for creditsbecuase someone called there phone and they answered it and it was someone who they didnt want to call or they had the wrong number ...... How do you feel about this ???

The Cell Phone Directory is being fought in Congress, and as said, Verizon stated it would not participate. I also went one step futher and placed both my cell phone number as well as my hard land line number on the National and State "Do Not Call Lists." 😎

verizon wireless will not release your number or will they let your number be posted in a wireless directory. verizon wireless president and ceo stated this over and over and over. verizon wireless will never take part in this. trust me. even down the road

Why would a customer expect credit from VZW?

1. The company doesn't participate in the directory
2. Its not VZW fault if a number is published incorrectly
3. Its not VZW fault if someone dials a wrong number.
4. The customer willing answered the call
5. VZW provides free VM, which doesn't use airtime to leave a message

Hopefully, most sane people will realize this and you won't get a lot of these situations.

Do you honestly think that will stop people from calling in? πŸ˜›. I had a customer call in and try and tell me that Canada was the 55th state...I'm still trying to figure out 51 - 54. I got PR, US virgin islands and mabye Guam...

If my mobile number is given out by Verizon, then they shold make the first incoming minute free so I can hang up before getting charged for a call I didn't want.

I know, I could let it go to voice mail and check it from a landline as someone else stated, but I like to answer the phone--that's why I have one. It might actually be an important call!

Once mobil phones get as reliable an widespread as regular phones you'll see all the companies offering first or even all incoming min's for free. after that, FREE flat-rate, no-roaming, national plans will be on the way.

I'll still get customers calling me mad that they have to pay a $0.10 roaming fee in the Congo and NO SERVICE in the middle of the atlantic ocean because we don't have enough cell bouys.

I don't want my cell number to available to anybody, because i want privacy and I know that all of you do. We don't want to be molested 5 or more times a day for somebody u don't know to call your cell phone because of some wireless directory. That is annoying. I'm glad vzw is not going to participate.

Consumer Union the publisher of Consumer Reports has established a web site to fight the implementation of a Wireless Directory. The site allows the forwarding of a prepared letter to Congressional representatives asking for their support for the directory law and the adding of crucial amendments requiring β€œopt-in” permission in all circumstances.

Verizon has indicated that they will not participate in a 411 Directory but, Verizon has been known to speak with a forked tongue.

😲 The announcement that was given to me a few months ago. Is that VWZ is not going to have there cx's added to this listings Directory. That was made by one of my floor managers. Anything more current than that statement I have heard nothing. πŸ™‚

My own personal thoughts about the directory, I do also think it is a bad idea. If for no other reason than the fact of solicitors (telemarketers). They are the scum of the earth. It's already bad enough that the can get banks, credit card company's, etc., to sell there customers #'s to this scum of the earth. 😈 I recall once around Aug.03 I received a call on my wireless phone from one about magazine sales. Turned out that it was my bank that sold them the number. I think also the factor that wireless numbers have not been publicly published has been a good selling tool for the wireless industry promoting privacy as well as convenience.
