There is a picture of the LG vx-9000 in today's NY Times. Article states that there is an Oct. 1 2006 release date. It looks like this will be the new flagship phone. It has a swivel screen that turns sideways so you can watch the upcoming subscription (more$$) TV shows on your phone.
Any one have more info??

What is the LG VX8400? Never heard of that, and nothing comes up when I google it.

Just went to LG's website and nothing there about any new and upcoming phones. They even had a press release stating what phones that had at the CES conference and expo from earlier this month that mentions nothing new at all. Maybe check the article again to be sure.

I DOUBLE checked.. It was in today's Circuits section. The article talks about VZW's upcoming pay TV service. There is a picture next to the article with an LG phone and the Verizon Wireless logo. The article identify's this phone as vx-9000. This is a NEW phone. The screen swivels to make it wider. There is a TV icon on the phone in addition to the camera icon and speaker phone icon. The send/end buttons are on the bottom of the unit. It is not a flip phone. There is a sd card slot on the side.
I went to LG's website and found nothing there.
I'll try and find a link to the NYT website and post it.

It's a V9000. And I don't know what's so hard about going to the NYTimes website and searching yourself, but here...

I don't think so. The article implied it's already for sale in Europe. I don't think that handset will do well here. That hinge looks like trouble.

I read the article in another post that was on here. I am sorry. There is nothing posted anywhere on LG's website for that phone. I am going to even try to read korean on LG's Korean section to see what it says...

What's your point? So what if it's not on their website. Are you implying that it's not true because it's not on their website? Companies don't usually advertise things on their webpage until they're ready to go with it.

I am ssying anything. I just didn't see it there. I know that by not being posted there doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. I have a major chokedown firewall and can barely surf this site.

Damn...Calm down...

Allegedly, the pay TV service, which will cost and additional $9.99 per month, ( or per use) will have a number of syndicated shows available. Plus, Verizon is producing mini shows 3-7 mins that will be available. This is big in Korea and Malaysia, where they test market these phones before they come to our shores.
At these rates, won't be long before my phone bill will equal my mortgage payment..
I'm sure some one at verizon is contemplating offering an "adult" channel,(pocket porn?) which will cost even more..

I understand about the bill, my last one just came to a bit over $400. Just the same, I don't have a lot of time, or patience, for TV anymore. I catch the news from the internet so I can glance over it quickly. I used to watch the Daily Show, but just really haven't had much time. I enjoy being able to catch the high points on Vcast. I've never seen the Colbert Report on TV, just Vcast. To me, it's worth it to spend the $15/month to be able to step away from work and unwind for a few minutes. Some people see me tethered to my phone and staring at it and, for some reason, think I'm concentrating on a call. Imagine that.
