WCDMA

the answer is 42

My sister works for Tmobile (and I stubbornly refuse to return to Tmobile after multiple billing & service issues) so I tend to get an earful of cellular technology rants and raves. The subject of WCDMA in Europe came up for some reason. What exactly is WCDMA? Will the CMDA phones be able to use it?

what f38urry said and no cdma and wcdma are uncompatible.

ev-do is the cdma comparison to wcdma. just wcdma has a few minor advatages such as being able to do voice and data at the same time.

in the early stages yes but once hsdpa upgrades come wcdma will be way faster.

i believe they are plotting another revision of ev-do called revision A or O.(don't quote me). thats why ev-do isn't spreading to every market so fast. they don't want to roll out the first revision everywhere and then have to do the same with they next revision. but ev-do is data only.

and ev-dv is data and voice. that maybe what your referring to. i wonder if you'll have to get a newer lg8100 or vcast ev-d....phone to keep up with the technology or if its ota updateable.
