What did you sign up with...a 1yr or 2yr term? If you did a 1yr term you can upgrade 10 months into the contract...a 2yr term would put you at 22 months...however if you did do a 2yr term and want to forfeit your rights to the NE2, sometimes you can get a rep to upgrade you 10 months into it.

We now make early exceptions for customers on higher tier rate plans though (earlier than the typical 10 month/22 month), which would include this. Just make sure you call customer service to see what they can offer you first, and *please make sure they notate the account*

OK, this is not true.. 2 things part VZWs WFG(Worry Free Guarantee):

1 Any customer can change to 'Any' qualifying rate plan at 'Anytime'. This requires an extension to their current contract.

Meaning if you signed up in Jan 03,04 for a 2 year agreement, and you are on the like the $39.99 America's Choice, you can switch to the $49.99 America's Choice on say Jan 04,04 or even April 04,04, it would just extend your contract out to April 04,06, vs. Jan 03,06.

2 Customers are eligible for a free new phone every 2 years. This requires 3 things:
1) That the customer agrees to a contract renewal of no less than 2 years.
2) That the customer has been on a plan of $35 or higher(not including taxes, features, etc.) for a consecutive 22 mos...

If you have completed at least one full year of your two year contract and plan on remaining on a price plan of 59.99 or higher, than you are eligible for an early upgrade but you forfeit your new every two. You also MUST sign a new 2 year contract and you will recieve the two year promotional pricing on the phone.

When you upgrade your phone at a promotional price it requires that you switch your plan to a current plan. If yoiu want to stay on this plan you would have to fore go your NE2 and buy the equipment full retail. The only plans that are actually grandfathered are Family Share plans, if you are on a Family Share plan you can upgrade and stay on your existing price plan.

Do you live in Philly? I'll check whether or not you have to change your calling plan as well. Here in the west I know for sure that you do not have to change your plan if you dont want to, even if you get a new phone at a discounted price. I thought this was nationwided untill ceiling posted, so ill check the philly area.

in response to 85percent:

1 yr. agreement signed.
You get 1 yr discount, and can upgrade after exactly 12 full mos.

2 yr. agreement signed.
You get 2 yr discount, and can upgrade:
12 mos. - Early upgrade, requires a 2 yr contract extension, and they have to be on a $59.99 or greater monthly plan.
22 mos. - Discounted rate with renewal signing, or New-Every-2.
