early upgrades are a daily deal. as long as you meet the requirements there is no problem getting one. but ne2 is as firm as they come! no matter what you might be able to come up with, as much as you think it might be a good reason, its not going to happen!! the ne2 program is just that,...new every two! there is already an exception in the ne2 program of 2 months / 60 days (your able to use it at 22 of 24 months) so there is nothing more to give! your either at 22 months or your not!

if your saying your ne2 is jan 26, your true ne2 is actually march! if you want that phone now / by xmas you know what you will be paying for it!

Are you sure your contract expires Jan 26th? If that's on a 2 year contract that would make your NE2 date 2 months before that, or November 26th of this year. You'd already be eligible. If your NE2 date is Jan 26th that would make your contract date March 26th and there's no way to move that up another month plus.

👿 Tell VzW to blow it out their Arss. Their service is good, but they're arrogant. Call and cancel, and see what offers they extend. If they still won't budge, then just dump them.

It cost them somewhere around $600 to attract a new customer, if they won't hold onto for the $100 a month early, then they're being pennywise and dollar foolish.

Otherwise, their arrogance will continue. 👿

You're right that it costs more to start a new customer than to keep an old one, but your #'s are WAY off. It doesn't cost anywhere near $600 to start a new customer and in fact, about 1/3 - 1/2 of your figure is more accurate. Also, if you do it for one person, then you have to start doing it for everyone, then these numbers would be completely pointless due to the amout of reveue lost on early NE2 redemptions.

I'm glad herbf doesn't work for us. I'd have to call for time off the phone to file all his reworks!

Hey ATT did that for their customers...yeah, they were penny wise! Oh wait, stupid business practices threw them into bankruptcy...

Verizon Wireless should relist themselves. They should pull off the stck market. Too many people believe that cellular companies are becoming Non Profit organizations...

Is it arrogance? or is it adherence to rules and guidelines? VZW is running a very efficient business. Best network, lowest churn, highest net adds ... Don't sign a contract if you don't understand exactly what you're getting yourself into. 22 months til newe2, that's all there is to it. If you don't like that, go somewhere else ... where you don't receive any sort of credit at all ...

I don't work for Verizon, but I recently tried to get my NE2 early. I didn't because I was trying to get it about a year early, but I called customer service (*611) and i was told if i was a month or two out they would have given it to me, but because I was a year out they couldn't. Maybe she was just saying that, but it can't hurt to call customer service directly instead of talking to someone in the store. Also try going to a different store and talking to a different manager, that can't hurt.

Yes it can hurt. And if I was that rep's supervisor he/she would be certaininly getting coached right now. THERE IS NO BEDING THE NE2 POLICY. If you're lucky enough to get one of those no business sense reps Verizon Wireless made the mistake to hire then lucky you.

Do you realize that not a single customer service representative can move up a NE2 date WITHOUT a supervisor. They are the only one's that can update it to work in NETACE. AND, if a customer has extremely long tenure, a very high ARPU, an excellent payment history, several lines, a corporate discount, or a combination of these, then it is not impossible to convince a supervisor to move the NE2 a few weeks early (I don't usually budge more than 2 weeks). Would you prefer to move the date up 2 weeks or have a customer who is about to see their contract end date and bills 300.00 a month and been a customer since 1999 say goodbye. I would rather snag them with a new 2 year contract today than tell them "I'm sorry, you may have called to beg for...

Yeah, but the point stands. The vast majority of customers don't pay $300 a month and have been a customer since 1999. Actually, the vast majority of *those* customers know how the proverbial game is played and do not ask us to pull stuff back like that. In my experience, most people who want their NE2 dates moved back are like most people who want us to give them something for nothing: been with us a couple years, maybe, pay their bills late every other month, if they do pay $300 every now and then it's because they didn't call in to change their minute plan and not because their access is really that high. In a word, the kind of person for whom pulling back a NE2 date would be a horrible business decision. Personally, I like being able to ...

Amen, I dont work for Verizon, however I am one of the customers you are referring to. I wasnt 22 months into my contract until the end of january but I called back in November, and the rep convinced the supervisor to allow me to upgrade and on 12/2 I purchased my new treo. Just depends on what type of customer you are, and what type of rep you get on the phone.

I have granted newe2 even 2 months before the newe2 eligibility date..In my watch with your plan being more than 39.99...and with a good payment history i would've changed the date to earlier...of course it has to be approved by a supervisor...but so far i haven't had any problems with that...plus is a 2 year contract for us...Keeping in mind that your newe2 is for your primary line...and if you wnt to swap phones..that will be a $20 processing fee. 😉

I know this should be a case by case basis, but the problem is that when Uncle Henry gets his phone 2 months early then why can't I? Secondly, why in the world would you make the NE2 date? If they want an early upgrade...they should get just that...an early upgrade. Not the extra 100 bucks.

Oh, and as a reminder...I wouldn't charge the 20.00 ESN change, pure robbery, fee. I can handle two minutes worth of work. But believe me, I make it a point to the customer that a retail store and/or customer care would charge that fee for a VERY SIMPLE ESN change fee...but I don't fleece people like that.

What I have done in the past is calculate how much VZ is willing to give me the phone for, pay it and then I downgrade my minutes plan to a cheaper one until I recoup the difference between what they charged and what I wanted to pay.
at the end of the time period I simply bump it back up, sign a new 2 year and everyone is happy.
No arguing.
