VZW wants me back! I don't think so...
Well, I haven't. I'm very happy with Cingular. I'm happier than the 1st time I tried Cingular (when they first rolled out GSM) Anyway, it's been almost 4 months since I left, so I got another letter. This one is a "checking on you" letter. Why is it that they think that no other carrier is better than them? I find this very arrogant and annoying. I rather have Cricket or Metro PCS than Vzw.
Well of course you'd say that bro. You WORK for Cingular, right?
Least dat's what your profile says right now:
Work: Cingular Wireless (2003-present)
I mean, it would be kinda a burn on Cingular if you had Verizon service, right? đ

I work for Cingular and used to have Vzw (since 2001) I used to like Vzw more than Cingy. After the merger I switched and I noticed my calls are clearer and the service in my area is the same as that of vzw. Also, I have a T_mobile line (4 international text msgs only) So, there.
i'll admitt i was an at&t/cingy tech but that has nothing to do with why i STILL have their service. đ đ

a shaquandaletta or ray ray is a ghetto @$$ buster that was hired by one of those temp agencies and has no cs skills at all and is giving cs in wireless companies like cingular a bad rep. i agree afro-americans (espically da ladies) đ are some of the most helpful folks in wireless cs.
But you got me wrong on one thang.. I'm Latino. Have a lotta black friends tho.

Because, nobody is better. I'm glad that you are happy with your service. Not everybody enjoys the luxury of not dropping calls. Dare I bring up Stig Sigman's comments? When you have the CEO of any corporation admitting their product is not as good as a competitor publicly it does not bode well for your product. If you'd like to look at numbers then you'll find that VZW performs better. If you'd like to look at technology, you'll find that VZW performs better. There's a reason why only a hair over 1% churn. you brown nosing for a raise? CDMA will go the way of BETA (remember what VHS did to BETA?) same thing will happen to CDMA by GSM.
Only in your dreams, bro.
From what I've read, GSM diehards have been sayin' this for years now, an' it never happens. 'sides, CDMA is growing very fast, like 30% a year, an' is #1 in the US. GSM is bigger worldwide, but as an American.. who cares?
CDMA ain't goin' away, neither is GSM. They'll live side-by-side for several more years, an' as they upgrade will keep stealin' each others best features 'til they'll almost be the same technology.
So then what'll you have to hate on? đ
So in other words, if the person had cancelled and VZW didn't respond at all, they would be on here posting about how little VZW cares about if consumers leave. But they show concern when one of the few leave and that person posts because VZW contacted them...
The conclusion to the matter is that the original poster is a troll and just posting this on VZW's message board to start fires...
crazyeaglefan236 said:
So a consumer is upset that a company showed concern over them leaving...isn't that what a company is supposed to do?
I think the main point on here was the fact that they send letters to people who have cancelled and then throw an extra arrogant line -which is soooo VZW.
Saying: "It's a shame you're leaving" and then saying: "We know you'll come back cuz we are much better" is just very wrong. And for someone who left Verizon with a bad taste in the mouth just like the guy who started this thread is just a little bit too much.
WAKE UP! Of course they are going to send a letter reflecting confidence (or arrogance as you say). My previous cable company did the same thing. I had a bad taste in my mouth because of their service and I got a few letters coaxing me back. Guess what I did... THREW THEM AWAY ...and kept it moving.
Not tryin' to dis you, but it jus' seems like there's some hatin' goin' on here, vis a vis you an' Verizon. A letter is no big deal, you don' like it, you can jus' crumple it up an' throw it away.

Verizon ain't goin' to GSM. Why should they? They is straight kickin' all the GSM providers asses wit' CDMA. Added 'bout as many customers as Cingular an' T-Mobile COMBINED last quarter, an' wit' half the churn. If it ain' broke, why fix it?

Actually...
CDMA was used by the U.S. military in the 1940s. Not exactly implemented as a cell phone, but they encrypted and transferred data via CDMA technology. It wasn't until the 90s that the idea came about to use it for mobile telecommunications.

True, to a degree...they are clearer until the phone picks up every little background noise making it then impossible to hear the caller clearly. I tried GSM for awhile, both T-Mobile & Cingular. If I was in a quiet room...no problem. But if someone in that room turned on a TV, or someone was speaking in the background, the phone picked up everything. Worse case senerio is outside, or driving in the car. A friend...

That's right, because the whole call is low everytime my sis -who has vzw- calls me, she sounds like I have my earpice in low. Same for a friend. they have different phones, and the same issue arises. I'll be like: what?
My friend: "So, did you have a nice Thanksgiving?"
Me: "No I haven't done any X-mas shopping yet!"
Friend: "What?"
Me: "No, I'm at my friend's house. Why?"

I have tried both, and frankly, I prefer the sound of the CDMA phones I have used over my current cingular phones, and the two tmoboile phones I had.
Blanket statements like "any GSM phone" show you up to be either ignorant or worse. I am sure there are plenty of good sounding GSM phones, and I am sure there are ust as many good ounding CDMA phones. Thanks for the link. It actually is showing 3G coverage. Japan uses a technology called FOMA (Freedom of Mobile Multimedia Access), which is a CDMA derivative also known as WCDMA. The largest service provider is DoCoMo. I do not know of anyone who uses GSM in that country, and do not know of any GSM service in Japan. DoCoMo does offer a few GSM/FOMA handsets for its customers who travel internationally. If you would like more information on Japans main wireless technology, check out this link:

Without reading this entire thread, I'm sure it's been pointed out numerous times that no one ACTUALLY gives a flying fu*k if you come back to Verizon or not, it was just a courtesy letter from the marketing department. If one out of 100 decide to come back to Verizon because of the letters, then the campaign more than pays for itself.
