Phone advice needed please

Hello folks,

Happy Holidays!

I am in the market for a replacement phone for my Motorola v60s.

I live in Mn and there are some areas that still do not have all digital service so I probably need a tri-band phone.

I cancelled my home phone so only use my cell phone so battery life is important.

I'm also intrigued by the possibility of synching my phone with Microsoft Outlook for scheduling purposes.

Does anyone have any phone recommendations? Are the Treo's good? Do you feel like you are talking into a phone?

Would a tri-band phone have less digital power than an all-digital phone?

Thanks for the help!

Not sure about your service area, but where I live there are sketchy service areas as well, and my husbands All Digital phone does better than my Tri-Band does. I'll be sitting in 3 bars analog, and he's full service digital. Something with some of the tri-mode phones if analog is there, it'll use it, whether it needs to or not.

i work for verizon wireless and a treo would not suite what you are looking to do. the treo runs off of palm software. if you wanted a phone that would link with Microsoft outlook you would need to so with the samsung i730 which is a very good quality business phone.

I have had my Nokia 6256i operating for a month with no problems at all. It IS a tri-band phone, and I have had to use analog on it twice. Clear as a bell. Can't help you with the other qualifications. Hope you're able to find a solution.

Are you near by Mpls/St.Paul? Basically, where in MN, since that's my market area. You can sync outlook on the I730, but they're definately expensive little buggers.

A Treo would fit what the original poster is looking for. You CAN synchronize palm devices with Microsoft outlook. I do it with my palm and I have colleagues that do it with treos.

If you need a tri-MODE phone then I wouldn't use a PDA phone. The battery life is less on the PDA phones also, however you can get extended life batteries...extra batteries...dual chargers that charge both phone and battery...etc. There are solutions to the needed battery life. To my knowledge though all PDA phones are all digital or dual-BAND. Also, MN has very little Enhanced service network areas, so you wouldn't see alot of use of the PDA portion of the handset.

My recommendation?

LG VX4650 for a non camera phone.
LG VX6100 or 5200 for a camera phone.

Samsung has a nice camera phone in the a850, but it is all digital.

The Motorola E815 is TOP SHELF but it also is only all digital. If you could get your hands on a Moto...

LOL. Ok...apparently you know NOTHING! So lets get ye some education. The only reason for the lawsuit is the fact of bluetooth. It had NOTHING to do with phone quality.

I still have people coming into my store looking for the V710 becuase that phone gets reception where nearly all others don't. And that, my friend, is rule numeral uno in the cellular world...coverage.

He's right, you know. Unless you are looking for full-bluetooth technology ( and this post is not if you took the time to read the top post ) you would understand the top qualities and features the person was looking for was right up there with the v710.

Next time, if your going to take the time to post, take the time to read what it's actually about that your posting.

had to put in my two cents for the weekend 😉

What's really funny is that the bluetooth on the V710 is the same as all of the new phones that everyone is praising. Verizon still only supports connecting with a headset or car-kit. The only reason there was a class action suit was a case of poorly worded advertising.

AMEN!!! That is what I have been trying to say. The problem wasn't the handset, it was that customers felt the profiles of the bluetooth weren't properly disclosed.

If you want to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook, I would probably recommend the new Research In Motion Blackberry 7130e. I have been testing this device for over a month now and it works very well. There were a few issues getting it to run properly with Verizon's EVDO, but that has all been worked out with the production unit. Not only will you be able to keep track of your calender events, you will have full access to you email with the active wireless synchronization RIM provides for its devices. As far as an all digital versus an analog / digital phone, I would go with all digital because analog has effectively reached the end of its useful service life. As time goes on analog will phase out. I would also say the Blackberry has a much m...
