I am considering applying to be a Verizon Wireless in store rep. What are the pros, cons?! Verizon reps, anything you can tell me would be most humbly appreciated! :-)

I just quit Verizon. If you want a job for awesome benefits, then Verizon is the place for you...if you want to constantly have your commission structure changed, and want to get dicked out of money due to their ridiculous expectations, then by all means, be my guest. I personally hated the weekly meetings and the constant criticism of stats. At times, I felt like the way Verizon talked, they were going broke! There's good and bad to every company. I enjoyed working there until they started changing things around. You also need to get the right manager. I don't think that Verizon does a good job in the hiring of their managers. If you get the right manager and the right store, then I think that you will be just fine. If you can perf...

Man you are really bitter! I am guessing from your post that you were not able to hit your numbers, and that is nobody's fault but your own.

Let me give you my persepective. As stated VZW has great benefits. The pay structure is great, IMO. You will be challenged though. The company only wants the cream of the crop when it comes to sales reps. The goals are challenging but attainable. Being a rep is not a "show up and get paid" type of job, you must hustle and work hard if you want to make money. You had better not have thin skin because if you are not hitting your numbers, your store manager and district manager will call you on it and ask you how you plan to actually hit the goals. When you are approached about your numbers d...

Verizon is a great palce to work. Grat benefits, and pay. I know reps in NY that are making over 100k in commission. It's still very possibe, considering all the resources available to sales reps.

I have to agree with the last two posts, Verizon is a great place to work with great benefits and a lot of earning potential. Commission structures have changed, they change all the time, that's what happens when your a sales rep in a fast paced changing evnvironment. It used to be you could make over 50K a year without blinking an eye, you were paid awesome on price plans, commission on handsets and accessories. One of the biggest problems is that your sales reps were making way more than your assistant managers and some store managers, that's not right for team morale. So as the proverbial "cheese" shifted from calling plans to data, they also started altering commission so that reps would on average make around 45K - 50K a year if they wo...

Before you go makeing ASSUMPTIONS let me tell you that I was not a commissioned rep. I was a customer service rep in the store. I have very, very good friends that worked their ass off and were TOP performers that are getting RIPPED off. I was the cream of the crop, I worked at one of the busiest stores in the Western Region...the goals are challenging, and attainable, yet when you are a top performing sales rep that has to do 2 to 3 times the work AND get paid less, something is wrong. The other thing that made me mad about working there is that most of the reps in our store had college degrees and were top performers and still were in the store and could not advance to the corporate office...what does that tell you? It tells me that i...

Hey sorry if I offended you in any way. I am not sure what you are talking about when you say "top performing sales rep that has to do 2 to 3 times the work AND get paid less." Less than who, than the rep that does 1/2 of the work? That does not make sense to me.

I can tell you at my store that the manager is very gung-ho about getting people promoted.

Now I have been w/ VZW for two years and been promoted twice with in the first 14 months. Right now I am kinda of stagnent by ccoice because I love the store I am in and not really ready to make the next jump at this point.

Now I have heard from some more tenured reps that the work to pay ratio has increased fom what it was 4 or 5 years ago, but I do not feel that it is an u...

The getting paid less for more work is based on what he did just a few months earlier. He was on track to make $70k+ this year and how its almost cut in half...too bad for him. I just think that sucks! That is awesome that you had a manager that loved to promote. I had a manager that stated that they were gung ho as well. But that mgr was the fakest person I have ever met. What my mgr meant by that (based on everyone else's observations), is that if you were liked (and this was not based on if you were a hard worker), then you would get what you want. Everyone in the store knew that it didn't matter if you worked hard, it was if you were liked on a personal level. I was stuck in my situation. I worked my ass of and everytime I wante...

I think that's the way of life. It's who you and and who you blow. A lot of times it doesn't matter how good you are.

I agree. I by no means blew anyone 🤣
I, as well as my co-workers considered me to be good at what I did. I was the go-to person. That still didn't matter and it pissed me off! 👿

Does it matter? When I worked at SprintPCS, about half the people I knew that worked there had either Cricket, T-Mobile, or Verizon cell phones. I was a SprintPCS customer and I went to work for T-Mobile. I then cancelled my Sprint service. I no longer work for T-Mobile, but I'm still a T-Mo customer, and I'm considering working for Verizon. It depends on who's going to offer me more once I'm ready to work again, Verizon or T-Mobile. If I do go with Verizon, I'll probably cancel my T-Mobile cell at the end of my contract. Not b/c I have anything against T-Mo, but I like to take advantage of employee discounts. Would you consider it bad if some...

no i dont consider it bad. I CURRENTLY HAVE CINGULAR AND ONLY SELL VZW, SPRINT, AND T-MOBILE (where i work). i was once employed by at&t/cingular and i still love them. i am going to take advantage of my employee plans from each carrier also. while still maintaining my cingy fam-share plan. i ragged on hime because he ragged cingular and all the other major carriers but now wants a job with them... 😕 i don't get it.

the problem at hand is not to bash a company and then want to be employee of theirs.

my vzw accountant is mad i still have cingular but RESPECTS it. i just can't whip out my bad ass se s710a in front of a hopeful customer.
