Ok, I came here to Phonescoop a couple of weeks ago to research carriers real thoroughly an' decide who ta go with. What I found:

T-Mobile: Great prices, cool phones, great customer service, but coverage not the best. An' not only that, their street-level maps show that even in areas where they got coverage, there's a lil' spottiness there. Still, they'd be my second choice. (an' they got Catherine Zeta-Jones! lol)

Sprint-Nextel: Very cool phones, an' Fair & Flexible is real good. But the merger ain't gonna help their coverage 'til they get the hybrid iDen-CDMA phones out (which'll be awhile), an' their customer service is 'parently pretty bad. Also heard that they used to dump you if more than half your minutes are roaming?!? Whack.

very good analysis on your situation with the carrier of your choice, but let me make some clarifactions with regards to sprint-nextel, that you have mentioned.

yea, fair and flex are extremly popular and responsible for more then 75%+ of all net ads.

the merger will be providing better coverage area actually as they will be building thousands of cell sites on the iden and cdma platforms. the cdma-iden phones...

"cingular= "Cingular reserves the right to terminate your service if less than 50% of your usage over three consecutive billing cycles is on Cingular-owned systems."

I did not know cingular had that policy, learned something today. But, verizon does not have that policy, so, another huge benifit for verizon, no limitations on where you can use your phone.

On phones, good luck, if you were able to get the LG8000, that phone is good phone, speaker phone works flawless. My friend just got the LG6100, I do not know anything about the phone, but, so far the speaker phone is working good. He called me on the LG8100, and the Motorola 815, and both those speaker phones had feedback, I could hear myself talking, very annoying. Everyone has...

Great analysis. Looks like you did your homework.

Unlike another note on this thread, I wouldn't be so quick to toss out Nokia, especially the 6256i. I've been using one for the last couple of weeks, and it is an excellent phone...great reception and transmission in particular, and I don't go in for a lot of the bells and whistles, either. But check out the other models you make mention of, and see which ones suit your needs. As far as the service goes, there ain't none better at the moment.

I had sold many Nokias and have yet to see even ONE come back. In fact I have people that have upgraded from Nokia to another manufacturer and brought the phone back immediately because of reception. I have yet to find a phone that has reception near that of Nokias.

Quick story,

I had a friend that had an Suckiovox 8600. She moved to another city. She did not have reception in her apartment with her phone. Some of her friends had phones and could get reception, but only on her front porch. I let her check the reception (non activated, just let her see the RSSI) on 6 different phones. LG VX3200/6100 and 4650...Moto V276 and E815...and a lowly Nokia 6015. The LG 6100 went to searching for service about a hundred yards from her ...

When you're looking for a phone make sure you know where you're gonna be using it. If you're out in the boonies, you might want to look for a tri-mode phone. Motorola v710 if you're into that brand. Otherwise an LG6100. Both really good phones. If you live in a big city, more than likely an all digital phone is the way to go. The Motorola e815 and the LG8100 are two good choices. the e815 has some quirks but it's a good phone overall. And of course, by having Verizon, there's a lot more priviledge than pain. If they come out with a software update for whatever phone you have, go by a local store it's free. Battery not charging or holing a charge? 1- the 815 resets itself every once in a while. maybe once every few days. They had a shipment go out that had the quirk so some phones don't even do it. I got mine when it first came out so now that I've gotten it replaced, it's all good. Other than that, I really can't think of anything. The camera is amazing... The sound is awesome and they're really durable... TRUST ME lol!

2- Best buy, radio shack and all those places are usually known as AGENTS. they only sell the phones but don't actually fix them. The retail stores have TECHNICIANS that can fix your phone. You can tell if it's a retail store cuz they're cookie cutter mold of each other. there's a place in vzw.com called vzmap where you can find the nearest retail store.

2- Best buy, radio shack and all those places are usually known as AGENTS. they only sell the phones but don't actually fix them. The retail stores have TECHNICIANS that can fix your phone. You can tell if it's a retail store cuz they're cookie cutter mold of each other. there's a place in vzw.com called vzmap where you can find

Thanks mupi, I 'preciate your thoughts.

I agree dat a person won' call CS too much, but when you do, its often a big deal, an' I don' wanna be hung out ta dry. Another reason I didn't go wit' Sprint is cus' I have friends who got Sprint, an' many o' them complain 'bout not havin' good service inside o' buildings.

One of these friends used to sell wireless, an' says its 'cus Sprint uses the 1900 MHz freq a lot, an' that freq don' go through buildings too well.
