Ok, Its Settled- I'm Goin' With Verizon. Phone Recommendations?
T-Mobile: Great prices, cool phones, great customer service, but coverage not the best. An' not only that, their street-level maps show that even in areas where they got coverage, there's a lil' spottiness there. Still, they'd be my second choice. (an' they got Catherine Zeta-Jones! lol)
Sprint-Nextel: Very cool phones, an' Fair & Flexible is real good. But the merger ain't gonna help their coverage 'til they get the hybrid iDen-CDMA phones out (which'll be awhile), an' their customer service is 'parently pretty bad. Also heard that they used to dump you if more than half your minutes are roaming?!? Whack.

yea, fair and flex are extremly popular and responsible for more then 75%+ of all net ads.
the merger will be providing better coverage area actually as they will be building thousands of cell sites on the iden and cdma platforms. the cdma-iden phones...

I did not know cingular had that policy, learned something today. But, verizon does not have that policy, so, another huge benifit for verizon, no limitations on where you can use your phone.
On phones, good luck, if you were able to get the LG8000, that phone is good phone, speaker phone works flawless. My friend just got the LG6100, I do not know anything about the phone, but, so far the speaker phone is working good. He called me on the LG8100, and the Motorola 815, and both those speaker phones had feedback, I could hear myself talking, very annoying. Everyone has...

Unlike another note on this thread, I wouldn't be so quick to toss out Nokia, especially the 6256i. I've been using one for the last couple of weeks, and it is an excellent phone...great reception and transmission in particular, and I don't go in for a lot of the bells and whistles, either. But check out the other models you make mention of, and see which ones suit your needs. As far as the service goes, there ain't none better at the moment.
Quick story,
I had a friend that had an Suckiovox 8600. She moved to another city. She did not have reception in her apartment with her phone. Some of her friends had phones and could get reception, but only on her front porch. I let her check the reception (non activated, just let her see the RSSI) on 6 different phones. LG VX3200/6100 and 4650...Moto V276 and E815...and a lowly Nokia 6015. The LG 6100 went to searching for service about a hundred yards from her ...

The phones seriously are terrible, I have been waiting for a phone forever, and they all suck.
Today I called the local store to find out about the Nokia 6255i, and it was literally the most confusing process ever.
-Nokia 6256i
-LG 6100
-LG 8000
-LG 8100
-LG 9800
-Moto 276
-Moto e815
-Moto RAZR
-Samsung 630
-Samsung 850
-Samsung 950
-Samsung 970
Guess there's as many opinions as there are phones.
Anyways.. LG 8000 is out 'cus its discontinued.
LG 9800 looks sweeet but is out 'cus its 2 damn big.
Moto 276 is out 'cus a very similar Moto (the 260) crapped out quick on a friend of mine.
Samsung 630 is out 'cus of no outside screen.
Which leaves

-LG 6100
-LG 8100
-Moto e815
-Moto RAZR
-Samsung 850

If anyone has any further info/ deeper thoughts on the these phones, its much appreciated. 🙂

When you're looking for a phone make sure you know where you're gonna be using it. If you're out in the boonies, you might want to look for a tri-mode phone. Motorola v710 if you're into that brand. Otherwise an LG6100. Both really good phones. If you live in a big city, more than likely an all digital phone is the way to go. The Motorola e815 and the LG8100 are two good choices. the e815 has some quirks but it's a good phone overall. And of course, by having Verizon, there's a lot more priviledge than pain. If they come out with a software update for whatever phone you have, go by a local store it's free. Battery not charging or holing a charge? Take it in. they'll replace it as long as it's not water dam

The sound is awesome and they're really durable... TRUST ME lol!

FWIW, my impressions generally mirror these.
I came in here to do more research on phones, convinced that I was going to go with Verizon. Now, I am leaning more towards Sprint 😈
Seriously....how much do you NEED to call customer service?? In the last two years, I think I have called customer service maybe 5 or 10 times total...for cable, cell phone, electric, gas, newspaper, all of the things you would call customer service for. And most of those were "routine" sorts of things "I'm going on vacation, can you have the carrier stop deliverying the paper now?" So really, at least for me, customer service carries a pretty low wieght.
On the other hand, I am a gadget freak...

I agree dat a person won' call CS too much, but when you do, its often a big deal, an' I don' wanna be hung out ta dry. Another reason I didn't go wit' Sprint is cus' I have friends who got Sprint, an' many o' them complain 'bout not havin' good service inside o' buildings.
One of these friends used to sell wireless, an' says its 'cus Sprint uses the 1900 MHz freq a lot, an' that freq don' go through buildings too well.
