Verizon Call Center question

LilShorty

I had worked at one of T-Mobile's call centers for about 2 years and loved it. Loved the company in general. I quit in Aug to spend a year with my baby girl. My plan was to go back in July. Since then, a Verizon call center has opened up in my area. I hear that they pay more per hr than T-Mobile. I was thinking of applying at both when my year is up and seeing what happens. Now, the Verizon call center is farther than the T-Mobile call center, and with gas prices being what they are now, if there is a higher pay with Verizon, that may end up being a wash. My guess is that Verizon is a good company to work for based on Cust Sat. I feel strongly that unhappy employees causes unhappy customers. BUT, I don't know that for a fact. Any ...

I work for a VZW Call Center and if you can get pass the callers who call in all upset and the QUALITY monitors, you'll do ok, their turnover rate is about 15% in my area. Their pay is good at least for my area.

I agree, they pay REALLY well. Of course I'm only 19 with no children so....I think they pay well anyway. And getting past the quality moniters is tough because it all depends on who your supervisor is and how they do things.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA too. How does one get to work for Verizon Call Center in Pgh? I have tried in the past, and the stores always refer me to their website and the website always says there are no Call Center openings.

Try checking..

That is where I first saw the positions. It had me submit my resume then they gave me a 800# to call. During that call they set me up with a phone interview. If you pass that you go to a face-to-face interview. After that is an interview over the phone with HR. Next they offer the job contingent on the background check and drug test. Then you get hired 🙂

Good Luck

My experience is that it's no good to apply online for call centers. I applied for Citibank online, and took an easy test that basically asked, Do you steal? Do you think it's ok for others to steal? It told me that I failed! I went into the call center to ask about it, and they said the online test had told EVERYONE they failed for about a week. I took the test with paper and pencil and passed easily, of course. 🙄 And when working for SprintPCS, everyon...

IMHO, VZW is definitely a good job. I've been happy with my job. Alot of room for advancement. Agreed, the quality monitors are obnoxious, but it keeps us in line! In my area, we are monitored on 4 calls per month, price plan audits, best cost audits, seems like everything we do is watched. Extensive training...six weeks in a classroom then 6 weeks on the phone assisted with senior reps. So a 12 week training program before they release you!! Not to mention the continuous training. But, they pay us well for it, started out with 2 weeks pd vacation, 7 days personal time plus 5 days of sick time...all paid time off. Paid benefits from day one, good shift differentials, double time & a half on holidays *if you work, reg pay & day off i...

if your going to work in a call center i would say go to vzw. the center in nm is going to be tech support only so you wont have to deal with a lot of billing ques and the pay will probably be a little better. around here they start at 12.50 min and they have great ins thats very cheap plus you get short term and long term incentives. the job can really suck at times but the benefits make it worth it. any other ques just ask!

Yeah, I noticed a job ad in my local paper that indicated that it would mainly be working with PDA's and Blackberry, which is groovy. I'm familiar with both because at the end of Jan, T-Mobile switched me from my tech position to Blackberry/PDA (with no additional pa...

Small world, I started in Dublin, too. Weekly shift diff is 10% for the 2-11pm shift. Historically, it was a tough shift to get in the winters because all the senior reps wanted it. Spring and summer, it's no problem to get. Sundays are 35%. As for the phones, the discount is decent... 2 year pricing without agreement, 10 month upgrades (as previously stated), you can choose your plan... just discounted consumer plans which include unlimited text, picture messaging, free mobile web, unlimited N&W, unlimited IN (on most plans) and better coverage than t-mo. You can even get discounted rated on additional lines for your family.
As for the job, it all depends on your disposition. You said you have call center experience, so you should have no...

I don't care about the coverage, because, in all honesty, T-Mobile's coverage actually satisfies my needs, so that's a wash.

Is the differential only the hours during the differential you work, eg: do you only get 35% on Sundays or all hours you work. SprintPCS offered a differential of 10% for every hour after 5pm worked during the week, 15% for every hour worked on Sat/Sun (to my recollection, anyway). T-Mobile's differential was $1.00 for EVERY hour worked (before and after 7:30pm) if you worked at least until 7:30. If you worked BOTH Sat & Sun, you got an extra $1.50 for EVERY hour worked, even during the week. What is the percentage discount on plans? SprintPCS was some funky number, like 19% or 23%. Up to how many lines can yo...

OH! Another thing that would be a BIG RED CHECK for Verizon is if I can use, like I believe I've read, a SprintPCS phone with them. My fav manufacturer of all time is Sanyo, but SprintPCS is far too much the devil for me to use them ever again. Nokia, though, is 2nd place. 🙂

The differential is based on your shift. If you work 2-11, then you get a 10% differential for your entire shift during the week. For Sundays, you would get 35% for that day only and the remainder of the week would be base pay (unless you're on the 2-11 during the week, where you would get the 10% there too).

As for the phones, depending on the area, you can have up to 5 lines, 4 voice and 1 data. Some areas are restricted to 4 lines total. I think the discount on plans is about 55% and if you have a data product, you get a discount on the data plan (I don't have one, so not sure of the discount amount). This is where it gets strict. You can only use Verizon Wireless phones on your account and they can only be purchased through the emplo...
