Help! My husband needs A Tri-Mode phone. Can't decide between the 4650 and the 5200. His main concern is reception and battery life. Right now the 5200 is the same price as the 4650 and has the camera. Is the reception comparable on the two phones? What about ease of use, battery life and etc. Thanks for you input and help. 🙂

They are no different other than the camera and the size of the speaker on the 4650. Battery life and reception are the same. Ease of use would be no different. I would get the camera if its the same price. Just my 2 cents worth.

Ok.

Comparison.

LG-VX4650: Very loud, high quality speakerphone with external caller ID. This is a tri-mode phone. The speakerphone part can be activated in a call and the flip can be closed and the call continued.

LG-VX5200: Fair camera phone with a decent speakerphone and external caller ID. This is NOT a tri-mode phone. This is a Dual-Band (digital only!!) phone. The speakerphone part can NOT be used once you close the flip as that will end your call.

Bpar, to confirm you mentioned that you wanted a tri-mode phone. In my honest opinion I would go for the LG-VX4650 hands down if you want a reliable, good battery life phone without a camera.

By the way, I was told that the 5200 is a tri-mode phone by a Verizon rep and it is on the site as being tri-mode. ?

I would go for the 4650. On that phone you can answer calls with the flip closed by holding the speakerphone button as well as talk on it with the flip closed as previousely mentioned.

Both phones have the same screen (CSTN) but it just looks better on the 4650. Another advantage to the 4650 is that it doesn't have that stupid Verizon UI.

The loudness of the speakerphone on the 4650 is reason enough to get it. I was playing with it in a crowded Verizon store on a busy Saturday store and it was deafeaning. Everyone was looking at me and the phone.

One last thing, (I know I keep going on sorry) the 4650 has amazing RF on it that is equal to the Motorolas if not better. Read the reviews about the phone on this site as well as cnet and...
