Verizon RAZR...sorry to be redundant...

I know this topic has been brought up a thousand times, but I was browsing the forums tonight looking for any updated info and didn't really see anything. And I have noticed there are a lot of Verizon reps and customer service people on here, so I was just curious if anyone had heard any updates on the release of the RAZR? I hear conflicting things about whether it will be released before or after the holidays...anyone heard any inside stuff???

Like I said, sorry for being redundant, I'm just pretty excited about the phone and was hoping to hear something new...hopefully I won't get yelled at for this one 🙂

All we can really do it stare at the pictures and wait until Thanksgiving/ Christmas. The most reliable insider on hofo says they are pushing hard for end of year holidays.

Here, we can stare together 🙂

When I first saw it, it was $600, then the next day it was $700...

The ad says:

"Since this is a prototype model, it will have VCAST and Get It Now installed on the handset, however, since the ESN is not loaded into Verizon's database neither feature will be operational."

What the ad doesn't say is that you won't even be able to perform an ESN change because the ESN won't be recognized.

No, this is not a scam. We have no reason to sell merchandice that will not be operational. We have built a decent name for ourselves and we choose not to taint it by selling merchandice which is worthless.

We are truthful and list that VCast and GIN do not work. However there is a work around one of our friends have done. We wont post it until we can verify this for ourselves.

What I have found is Cingular and Motorola have signed an exclusive agreement for the first year the Motorola RAZR is out. This is a contract between the two companies and no other carrier may offer this phone until 2006. I am sure when Verizon Wireless finally gets the RAZR, no one will want it anymore, as with anything else. You get fifty million inquiries about it when its not available, and then when its finally released, no one cares....go figure. ☹️

I guess that contract expired. That doesn't mean you have to be rude... Not sure why people have to be such jerks in this country.

Cingular did have an exclusivity agreement. And the phone has NOT been out for more than a year, at least not in the USA.

The agreement Cingular had was for the first 100 days it was out. The agreement expired in February of 2005.

The new agreement is between Cingular and Motorola for the Pink RAZR that is due out this holiday season.

The Verizon RAZR will be a completely different model number (V3C instead of V3) so therefore any agreements that Cingular has will probably not apply to the CDMA version.

☹️ I was talking to a rep at customer care and was told that due to poor quality testing that there was going to be a MAJOR delay on the release of the razr something like a 90%+ failure rate among those tested any one have any info about that?

Sounds like a BS answer from someone that really didn't know the answer to the question so they made one up. But I have no evidence of that.

The agreement issue with the RAZR, really didn't apply to Verizon getting the RAZR, since it was a GSM phone. The CDMA version may end up looking like the V3, but in the end, all of the guts will be completely different, which means Cingular can't have an exclusive on it. That's the good news. I believe the reason it is taking so long (mind you I was talking to Motorola reps at the CES that have so far proven to be unreliable at best) is that CDMA hardware was harder to get that thin. So when working on fitting CDMA electronic hardware into a case orginally designed for GSM hardware, it takes a while. Don't worry too much, Cingular can't keep you from getting a CDMA phone with an exclusive.
