my friend is going to give me his old phone(one of the motorola v60's)he had his phone with at&t. would it be any problem for me to switch my service to this phone. And if i can because it was with a different service would i actually have to go into a store to get an esn change. and the last question would getting a esn change do anything to the contract because i have a free upgrade coming up soon. i just wanna use the phone inbetween then.

any info is appreciated

The AT&T phone will not work on Verizon's network. AT&T is either TDMA or GSM, and Verizon is CDMA. Plus, doing an ESN switch screws up the date for your free upgrade.

No, Jmj4441, you're actually incorrect hun. First of all, Verizon Wireless doesn't have "free" upgrades. Near the end of a 2 year contract you have the New Every 2 benefit, which you can receive "up to $100 off the contract pricing of a phone", but you still have to pay taxes 😉 regardless. And second of all, an ESN change, when not obtained with a contract agreement (i.e. Refurbished, or FRU, or REX ESN changes, or when you purchase your own dayum phone off Ebay, the crack dealer at the end of the street, your mama, Ronald McDonald, The Easter Bunny etc..) will not extend the contract or interfere with the upgrade d...

My bad. On your first point, I misspoke. You are correct. You do get a $100 credit, not a "free upgrade".

On my second point, I still maintain that I'm correct. Using eROES, doing an ESN change OF ANY SORT will reset your equipment replacement date. If you don't believe me, I'll be glad to change the ESN on you phone for you...

That is incorrect. An esn change does not change your date at all. If that was the case then why would we give customers the option to do it on the website?

Look, I'm not trying to get into a pissing match with you. An ESN change SHOULD NOT change your date, but, for some reason beyond the ken of man, it DOES, at least on eROES. Maybe it doesn't on i2k, but that's how it shows up. Do I like it? No. I don't. Is it right? No, it's not. I'm just telling you what shows up.

Is it possible to fix the problem when you call in to Channel Support? Yes, but if you get a newbie you need to ask for either a more experienced rep or a supervisor.

And calling in to VZW all you need to say is My name is ______ I am a crack monkey for outlet ID _______ (i2k has different than VISION) I need to adjust the contract end date I just screwed up by changing an ESN. Simple as that!!!! Takes less than a second. I guess a newbie could get it in less than a minute. It's that point and click interface, originally by Smith & Wesson 😉 And they say we have no sense of humour 🤣 😁

I'm pretty sure I do it all the time in eROES. When you choose "Upgrade" for the action you are performing it does assume a new contract is being entered into. However, when you choose "ESN change" it does not. I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure. Otherwise, as it was already said, it takes two seconds to do an ESN swap for a customer over the phone. I change phones every other day on my employee account by calling it in the business service center, and I don't think I've ever been on the phone with them for more than a minute. 😉

attws and vzw use different systems for digital service so the phone would not work with vzw.
