Besides the extra money for the phone, are there really any disadvantages to going with a 1yr contract upgrade?

Also, on a 2 yr contract, they allow early upgrades after a year if you are on a qualifying price plan correct? And if thats the case why would you spend the extra 50bucks for the phone and sign a 1yr vs a 2 year?

first question. No, that is the only disadvantage with a year contract, price. You dont get the NE2, and some will say you dont get the rebate, but, I have gotten around that. The advantage, you can keep up to date phones every year, your phone is always under manufactures warranty, and, you are free to leave if you choose to do so in a year.

2nd question. I have had a rep tell me that also, but, it is not stated in your contract, and not mentioned on paper anywhere, so you would have to rely on a rep to do it for you. A rep can also shut your service down without the ETF to, but, you dont see that happening very often. So, unless you get that in print, I would not count on it, you might be able to get it, but, dont rely on being abl...

The only differences between a 1 year and 2 year contract is the date your contract ends (obviously), the activation fee ($35/$20) and the terms and prices of your upgrades. On a 1 year contract, the phones are prices $50 more than on a 2 year contract. You can upgrade your phone in your 10th montht of contract with the acceptance of a new 1 year contract. The phone would again be priced $50 more than the 2 year contract price.

With a 2 year contract, you're eligible for the new-every-two discount 22 months into your 2 year contract. You'll get up to a $100 discount towards the two-year contract price (which again is $50 less than the one-year contract price.)

Basically on a one-year contract you could be purchasing your third p...

basically, if you like to have the "new" phone all the time, then, the 1 year is where you should be, even if you lose $200 in discounts over the 2 years, you will be on your 3rd new phone by then, and if you have to buy one at retail, that is still half the cost of retail on the good phones. Also, if you are careful with your phone, you probably wont need the insurance on your phone, saving you $60 a year, as I always have a back up to get me to the next contract date if needed, and on a year contract, you make it 7 months without breaking your phone, you can make it another 5 months with your old phone if need be.

It all boils down to what you want. Myself, there is no way I will go 2 years on one phone, so, the year contract is the o...

The upgrade after one year on a two year plan is a current internal promo! What this means is it is not in writting for customers to see and it is not automatically offered, but most importantly it is subject to change at any time. So if that is the policy now, it might not be in a year when you want to use it, and since it is not part of the promo you signed up for they are not going to grandfather you in it or anything like that. So basically don't count on that!
