Verizon will lose huge part in market due to Radioshack

im sure all you verizon zombies have heard that Radio Shack is dropping Verizon for Cingular.
Radio Shack was Verizons #1 selling 3rd party dealer.

Do you think this will change the outcome of Verizons Customer Base?

Yeah there is a loss but kind of a relief. Radioshack brought advantages by getting verizon cells even before verizon stores, and being able to add on their own rebates onto verizons' phone rebates and yeah, 3rd party dealer. But when it came to returns, rebates, repair, insurance, and the non-existant 15 day worry free gurantee policy, they were bums.

Radio shack couldn't cover anything outside of Radioshack so if they bought it outside of Radioshack then they had to go elsewhere but as for the 15day policy it was coverd undermost circumstances unless there was damage or among other things.
insurance vzw didnt even cover that was through assurion returns and rebates all done through us also unless not bought through radioshack if any of it was bought through radio shack we never had a problem taking care of things. well at least in our store

Good riddance, I have too many VZW customers coming in with complaints from radioshack. All this means is that there will be more customers for corporate and other indirect locations.

And the reps calling in to CS to have us make changes to accounts because they wouldn't be getting commission for it. I know there are lots of indirect dealers that do this, but Radio Shack was one of the worst. And they would get pissy real quick when you told them to call Indirect Support. Good riddance to a major pain in the a**.

I'm glad RS is no longer going to be selling Verizon Wireless. Many people would come in here complaining about the "extended" warranty that RS sells and how i would not cover anything.

Also I've dealt with many billing issues, incorrect contracts, false information given, FROM the radioshack across the way in the mall I work in. It's awful. The RS was even sending people to see ME cause "I'm a Verizon Store" and 95% of those issues I can't fix.

Yes VZW will lose some market share losing VZW, but it opens up alot more spaces for us indirects to pick up the slack and gain more business.

Without RadioShack I don't see Verizon ever becoming number one ever again. I think it was a smart move on Cingulars part to join with RadioShack. As a RadioShack employee who hates cingular I think this sucks. I find it easier to sell Verizon because I know my customers will have a better chance of not having problems. Hopefully I won't be working for stupid RadioShack when they start selling Cingular. The reason why RadioShack is going to stop selling Verizon is because of Verizon. As with many of Verizons employees, Verizon has a very big ego and thinks they don't need RadioShack. Yet RadioShack sells more phones than Verizon does.

I seriosly hope you don't actually believe that radio shack sells more phones than direct. If you actually believe this than you are beyond misinformed.

I doubt that anyone who is looking for Verizon Wireless, after concluding it was their best option, are going to care that they can't get it from Radio Shack. There's plenty of other places to get Verizon. The corporate owned stores do the best job of sales and support, as does Circuit City (which are really corp. owned stores within Circuit City). They can easily buy on-line with the 15 day worry free return period. Best Buy still carries them for those looking for what they perceive as a better deal on the phone.
I think it's Radio Shack's loss. RS may get paid a bigger commission on each Cingular or Sprint phone compared to what Verizon was paying, but anyone who's done any research, or have tried Cingular or Sprint in the past will ...

I understand that you guys feel Verizon is the greatest thing on earth. But you must understand that there have been many people screwed by Verizon. And many other people see that Verizon is trying to gouge them. Its like your souls are owned by Verizon. Kinda like my bosses soul is owned by radioshack. Listen I love Verizon. I don't think everything they do is great, but I haven't had any problems with Verizon at all. But I will not sit here and say that Verizon is god's gift to mankind. There is a reason why Sprint, Nextel, Cingular, and T-mobile have more combined customers then Verizon and its not just because everyone is under contract. If someone asked me which carrier I would recommend I would of course tell them Verizon. But...

Well said, Darkstar--

I'm a big Verizon fan, but I hope the competition improves. I hope Cingular, Sprint and the others improve in my area, Chicago, as they have some good deals. I'd love to take advantage of Sprint's fair and flexible plan, or my minutes fluctuate from month to month. But I tried their service for a while, and had bad quality calls locally, and lots of problems when traveling. Cingular's rollover plan is nice, too. But I tried them, and they weren't as good, but not really bad. I don't like the fact that Verizon has raised text messages inbound from 2 ot 10 cents, a 400% increase. No rollover. But, I know I can count on them in my area. I know that's not true all over. If Verizon's rate get really out of line, I'd...

That's for sure. I remember when the move was announced peeps were sayin' that the Radio Shack was THE distributor for wireless and that Verizon was totally screwed. LOL, so wrong. 😁

VZW obviously figured out that Radio Shack needed them more than they needed the Shack, and they were right. And I hope they never go back to them. You'd walk into the Shack and the guys behind the counter were either dumbasses or liars 80% of the time. Sometimes both.

I used ta think the Best Buy guys were bad, 'til I had to deal with the Shack. ☹️

In any case, bad water under the bridge.
