is this true
i just found out that at long as i'm a verizon customer and my phone needs replacing after the 1 year warrenty ends, i can pay $50 and get a refurbashed phone. if i get a different model than what i have and i have accossories like car charger, that will also be included in the $50 charge. the phone will be in the same range as my defective phone.
this kind of makes the warrenty useless since you probably pay more for the warrenty over time then $50.

That's another one of those "grey areas". What you are referring to is the out of warranty replacement option. If you have what would normally be a warrantable replacement (manufacturer's defect) and you are outside of the 1 year warranty, you can pay $50 for a refurbished phone of the same model (without accessories or battery). If that phone is not available, this option does not apply. With insurance, for the $50 deductible, if the phone is not available, you will get a refurbished phone of the closest range of the insured phone as possible. This option would generally include the charger and battery (I say generally as this is within the policy of the insurance company and not VZW).
Hope this helps.

Of course, a lot depends on who you talk to. If you are in a store and very reasonable and polite, you may be able to work out a deal, but it is at management's discretion and dependent on what they have available. I've only heard of what you're describing in extreme cases with extenuating circumstances.

I would rather get a warrenty thingy and if my phone brakes get my phone replaced that is brand new with no problems then a referbished phone that has been used with problems... thats just an opinion i might be wrong but yeah

yes and no
0-1 year: $0 replacement
1-2 years: $50 replacement
2+ years: no replacement. upgrade it already.

or if you do it right you don't have to pay anything. I have been with verizon since feb 04 and have had the audiovox 8900 the samsung a610, the lg6000, the samsung a670, the lg8000 and finally the moto e815 all without paying a dime.

Thank you for making the service cost more

ok, how did you do it without paying anything?

you dont pay for a warranty...you can pay for the extended warranty which would eliminate the $50. the $50 would give you the same phone. the only thing that you would play $50 for and get the accessories would be an insurance replacement...if they dont have your exact phone to send you, they'll send you a comparable one with accessories.
