It's doubtful, you should switch to cingular and t-mobile if you want free ringers, games and the such.

forget the games and ringers. You wouldn't buy a new car just becuase you liked it's stereo, or the color of the instrument panel would you? Well maybe some folks would but that's not where I'm going with this. The real benefits of bluetooth should be it's ability to link with things that help your phone work better. Working with you contacts, phone books, appointments on your pc, laptop or whatever and being able to synch those things up with your phone is the most important part of using bluetooth. sure a hands-free earpiece is nice but your really not getting the full benefits of bluetooth technology if that's all that verizon will let you do with it.

I'm not going to switch carriers over it. But I'm also not going to kid myself i...

you heard wrong. if it's a GIN phone, they're not going to allow OBEX on any phone.

Phones with GIN are contracually obligated (as far as i know) to have the OBEX disabled. As long as the phone doesnt have GIN, OBEX isnt a problem.

Which Verizon cell phones (not PDA's) presently have OBEX, that works like a Cingular phone?

My wife and I were looking at the new Lexus and Prius and neither will integrate with any Verizon phone, they say.

Why does GIN need to get in the way of auto safety? Why can't the GIN be protected somehow?

I read somewhere on howardforums.com that explained how to uncripple bluetooth. You had to have a data cable and software to do it though. you might want to look into this!!!

It's only a partial fix for OBEX and does not allow pushing (OPP) of files from the phone to a car or another device, like the way a Cingular branded phone works.

So there are still problems transfering the phonebook to a car if you have Verizon as your favorite carrier.
