I'm still using my old v60i, which I'm happy with, but the battery is shot so I'm debating whether to upgrade or replace the battery. I don't even use Verizon but judging by model# of Moto I would get a new phone just on GP. AMPS is still used in certain areas albeit small... Now if we were talking about SprintPCS, thats another story...

Get a phone that supports AMPS like the motorola v710. It gets amazing reception(better than LG 7000) and if you are up for contract renewal it is free(w/$100 credit). I upgraded to this phone from an Audiovox CDM9500 which was not lacking in reception and the v710 is even better. check out the reviews the only complaints are the limited bluetooth capabilities.
