I guess that it was just a matter of when than it, but as the article below (Barron's) mentions on the last paragraph on page 1 indicates, VZW will finally be offering a RAZR. Hopefully it will have Bluetooth!

The link requires us to sign up for a subscription. Can you tell us the gist of when it will be out, and how it will differ from the Cingular GSM version.
Thanks!

Sorry about that Richard! I am pasting below the paragraph that I referenced in my original post. The article is titled; "Razor's Edge, Motorola's Bold New Course" and it was written by Mark Veverka on July 25th in Barron's online.

"Handset margins could well get a lift later this year when the company launches another flavor of RAZR in the U.S. that will use the so-called code division multiple access, or CDMA, standard for high performance. The existing RAZR, which accounts for about 10% of Motorola's handset sales, enjoys hefty margins. The company disclosed last week that the rollout of the new version, largely for Verizon customers, will be moved up from the first quarter of 2006 to the fourth quarter of this year, just in time for C...

Thanks for the info!

I sure hope they make it by late this year. I'm sure it will be a great stocking stuffer. I know I'd want one!

You know whats funny? Even though Im sure the CRAZR will sell great, I'll not be tempted in the least to get one when it comes out.

Im actually a lot more interested in the new Nokias we are allegedly getting soon.

Just went to Cingular a week ago to get 2 razrs me and the wife. Still kept the Verizon 6600 for the EVDO features and Company Samsung 670. The phones are great. Even the service which I was worried about. But the customer service is just not worth it. Here is what I posted on the Cingular Forum :

"Hey, I just my Razr!!! Coolest phone on earth. But I recently stopped by a Cingular store (Not an Auth Dealer) in Tucson. I had problems with my car charger and wanted to replace it. Here's what happened: The Rep told me that I would have to take it to the store I bought it in... Is that true? I had my reciept and original package since it was the first time I used it. Second, they didn't have one in the store to sell me. Isn't this like ...

Hehe.......youve got a REALLY good point. That phone is nice....but nothing that special.....EWWW its shiny and made of aluminum.....happy times! At least the damn thing was recenctly released to be set up with lock line...at least under Cingular.
If the V3 was released to lockline insurance for cingular, do you think that the phone is available for insurance under VZW?

The problem is that if you need to return something you do need to go to where you bought it. If you go to another market meaning your number is based out of NY and you go to say Washington. because your number is in a different Market that store cannot do a lot for you. They may be able to sell you an accessory upfront via cash or credit card. they may prefer cash hard to say for the store. But if you want them to bring up your account or bill to you account they cannot do this. As the stores like customer service is regionalized. If your in California and from NY and call customer service and it is after 9pm in NY but not in California Customer service is closed for you. but a California customer can still call customer service since it i...

Cingular customer service closes at 9? That's kind of early. Verizon is open until 11 and even then it goes to an outsource I think.

Yup VZW customer service is open from 6 AM to 11 PM. After 11 PM, emergency tech sppt (shoo) takes over (at an actual VZW call center).

I don't think outsource centers work after 11pm because from what I heard, they don't get very good training and they are limited in their capabilities (can't do disconnects, equipment orders, etc.), so I don't think they'd be given access to systems used for emergency tech support troubleshooting .

You said the magic word right there: 'Authorized Dealer'. You also didn't mention what retailer, so it's hard to know if that's usual for them or not. And yes you have to return equipment to the place where you bought it. I think you can return items bought at a Cingular owned store to any other Cingular owned store, but I'm not sure. But you definately will not be able to return an item purchsed at a retail store to an authorized dealer. Just like if you buy an accessory at the Radioshack, that Verizon store won't exchange it for you. That's just business. It sucks that you didn't get service at a sales location, but they aren't there for service. That's why you contact Cingular for service.
By the way, you can also go to walmart for any ...
