My lg vx 6000 is the only cell phone i've had, and it's all digital. I was wondering if i can specify to just use analog if i had a tri-mode phone from verizon with amps.

Some tri-mode phones you can set to analog mode. Most now just do next call in analog.

It's a setting on new tir-mode phones. The next person u call or the next person who calls you will be in analog network. 😁

Some phones you can place in an analog only mode, and they will stay in that mode till the phone powers off, but there's really no reason to be in analog unless you're like in a remote area, a military base, or an Indian reservation. Analog will drain the power on your phone in nothing flat, can't support any data usage (i.e. text msgs, caller ID, voice mail notification, BREW/GIN and sometimes you may not be able to receive calls. Also with some models the phone can heat up to the point where it can burn your hand. The 6000 doesn't support the analog network either. Original analog phones are DESIGNED to work in analog, so their batteries would support the usage and can run all day in analog. Bottom line, even if you have a phone with...

Yeah, the thing is that i have no reception at all in my house which is amazing from from a verizon customer, although i live next to a BGE tower. My friend had a lg 4400 and brought it to my house one day and i saw it flipping back and forth from full bars of analog to 1 bar of digital reception. it also frequently went to a 'no reception' sign. i think it just couldnt decide on either of em.

I also found it interesting that a friend with a sprint phone, the sanyo 8100 i think, had a full bar of digital reception at my house.
My brother with an old TDMA only phone has okay analog recpetion and a cingular friend has half. Any comments? thanks.

Some customers say that internal antena thing works, personally, I've never tried it so I have no clue. If PCS had full bars you can manipulate your VZW phone, if you have an LG stick it to PCS only, found under MENU, and 0, under Network I believe. If you want analog only, leave your phone on the charger.

I tried going under menu then pressing "0", but it asks for a service code. soo... i'm lost as to what to do next. Also leaving the phone on the charger puts a dual-band phone in analog only?? i've never heard of that.
Thanks for replies.

Per e-guide, P_REV 4 ONLY AND P_REV3 forces the phone to use a certain technology and frequency. I've seen this mode on LG all-digital equipment. My best guess is that the P is some frequency in the PCS-band. I've tried one or both of these on one or two occasions and the phone showed no service in both cases as I recall. The PCS mode often works however.

This came from a buddy in Tech Support...

lol, no, if you're on analog it will drain the battery like no one's business, so leave it on the charger so your battery life don't zap like crazy
