iMessage, is VZW charging for these?

Is Verizon dinging you for iMessages? 🤨 I recently went over my messaging amount, so I bumped up my message plan. Went back and viewed my messages and there the regular texts are listed as 'domestic message', MMS are listed as well. And then the iMessages are listed but under type of message is blank. But the to/from numbers are listed and they're counted towards my total. I thought iMessages bypassed the carrier and were free?

They do bypass carrier and are free. They use data, not SMS or MMS. Sometimes though depending on coverage or if for some reason the iMessage won't go through it'll fall back to regular SMS or MMS to get the message through. Also if the person sending to you for some reason isn't connecting to iMessage it'll come to you via SMS instead.

Well on the iPhone if an iMessage is delivered as a regular message the message bubble is green. If it's an iMessage the bubble is blue. So the phone is sending them as iMessages yet they still seem to be, being pulled out of my bucket of messages.
