Data Q: Wait for EV-DO or get the 1x-RTT?

In the fall, I'm going out to pick up a new laptop (hopefully this time around a Mac. I'm not getting a Compaq laptop. Ever. Again.), and I'm also pondering picking up an unlimited data plan from Verizon.

However, I'm curious, is EV-DO worth the wait and should I pick up the 69.99 for the 1x-RTT?

Since Verizon's Aircards are dual functional (supporting both the High Speed Broadband network and the 1xRTT) you can get the card now and start out on the 1xRTT network for $59.99 per month. Per Verizon's Worry Free guarantee, you can switch your price plan at any time and go to the $79.99 plan which affords High Speed connections at any time.

Dude, you're gettin a Dell.

I love my two Dell laptops I have owned.

I bought a compaq thinking cheap would be ok for a store demo setup. No way, they aren't just cheap with low RAM, processor, etc. They are cheap keyboards, cheap screens (very dim).

I personally would stay away from compaqs. Everything I have seen says they are now the "value" line for HP.

Well, I was thinking about a loaded HP ZD000, primarily because it has a number pad and a large screen (I like to game hard) and I've been shopping around and it seems like they got the better deal for value and and perfomance.

hmm... they do have nice notebooks, but I really want something with a numberpad, most the games I play pretty much require it, and I really want a laptop that has one built in...
