vzw pda phone selection and prices??
ok, I am a longtime customer and always have found verizon coverage to be awesome. However I have become annoyed at the selection of phones and the prices of them. It seems the competitors are offering better phones and better prices. Currently carrying pocket pc and phone and getting tired of it.
All I want is a PDA phone. No need for wireless email or web. I also don't want something really large. dont really even need a keyboard cuz I sync with my pc.
The 2 choices vzw offers are the samsung i600 and the treo phones.
i600 is running an older window mobile version and is very expensive. The new audiovox phone from cingular is like $200. Vzw has it for like $399 or something
treo 600 or 650. Looks great but again, competitors ...

well if you get someone in a store who really knows what they are doing, you can get just the PDA service and no data. They first need to activate you with a data plan on the acct for activation reasons. Then after the activation is processed and done with, have the rep go back into the acct and take off all National Access features, and i mean ALL OF THEM! Then you will have voice service and the functions of the PDA minus the email and web abilities.

that person may be tought to find

lol...maybe. Its not hard, i would do it but you'd have to come to NC for that.

Keep in mind that its not possible to do that in all areas of the nation. Its not possible to do that in the west area.

actually that is something anyone who can access Vision can do. That should not be effected by West or South or different areas. Its not too hard to remove features in Vision...just make sure its done correctly.

Except West area M&P's state that any PDA/Smartphone MUST be activated with a data plan. It then specifically states that if the customer refuses a data plan, they will be held accountable FOR ALL CHARGES. There's no getting around it. No data plan = Multi thousand dollar bill

The Treo 650 with VZW is $50 cheaper with a new 2 Year agreement than it is with Cingular. And If you are eligible for NE2, you would probably get it for $299.
I'm just not sure that PDA/Phones are eligible for NE2.
But I would definately recommend the Treo 650. It is an amazing phone/pda.

Any and all phones are eligible for new every two.
