My 1st thread, I work with VZW and sick of.....
One-customer service is one of those hit and miss spots with any situation and with any company. With a company so large its hard to guarantee the same exact customer service experience on each interaction. Remember this is customer service, not "how can we screw our company out of money" service. These people work within the policies given, so some may know more loopholes than others. Remember they have to keep a job and helping someone do something outside the policies will not help them keep that job, and to be fair, i a...

I think you are wrong about Verizon not being publicly traded, though. Cingular is the only one that I know of that is not traded publicly.

verizon communications and verizon wireless are different.
I've got a GREAT bridge in the northeast for you too....
While VZW itself doesn't have shares, VZC and Vodafone have shares and they own the company 51/49 I believe. Someone told me that Vodafone is the 10th largest company in the world but I think they got something wrong. Maybe the 10th largest communication company or something.
They also have a football team in England but not here. So what?

lol..funny thing is, Vodaphone has GSM.....not sure if they have cdma/tdma
I think TDMA is another form of GSM
GSM's just better than TDMA.
And yeah, Vodafone does use GSM. I think it was said just a minute ago Europe uses GSM and GSM only. CDMA's being used in America primarily for one reason: Cost effectiveness. CDMA is cheaper to maintain, cheaper to upgrade (The system's backward compatible. To increase TDMA technology they had to upgrade the tower technology and the handset technology, why do you think they went to GSM? Increasing call efficiency with CDMA requires upgrading the CODEC and the tower software. That's it.)

Cingular is not publicly traded and they invested 46 billion in ATTWS.
Cingular and VZW are privately held companies. Cingular didn't pay 45 Billion, SBC and Bell South had to foot the bill for that.

There is more than a bit of hypocrisy here.
My major frustration with VZW customer service is that the majority of people I have dealt with in stores and on *611 don't get their numbers right and don't have their facts straight.
I can rarely get a consistent (never mind accurate) answer to such basic questions as contract expiration, calling plans, or policies such as NE2.
Granted, there certainly are customers that are truly idots or scammers, but not being in either of those two groups, I find VZW customer service lacking. Much of this is the fault of management, but an attitude such as yours ce...

VZW customer service may be rated better than others, but that just means its the best of a poor to mediocre bunch.
The Consumer Reports this year did indeed confirm what you were saying. While VzW was rated #1in ALL markets surveyed the overall message of the article was that wireless services' customer service has a long way to go.
Verizon needs to put some money into raising the level of overall customer service (not the same thing as "marketing").
Another simple step they could do is open up some forums like this (or engage customers for feedback in some other way) on their website to address questions, concerns, problems, suggestions, etc...
I have talked with some exceptional customer care reps, but they are few and far between. Most reps (including in-store reps) tend to not care so much for the customers needs, their questions, or their suggestions.
Verizon should confront the issue head on by gathering customer feedback and responding accordingly to fix problems and meet needs before they get o...
