Verizon's add a line cost is $9.99 for their plans, then an extra $30 for any smartphone, but a credit of $10 a month, so $30 a month for that line.
As for making jobs easier, Sprint should hire a decent marketing team, because right now it is FAR easier than it should be to get a customer to switch from sprint to Verizon than it should be given the price gap.
To Azeron: I highly doubt they'd do something as stupid as go back to the corporate data rate. If anything, they'd simply tier the data and go from there.
Ishamael, the $20 add on you're probably referring to is an optional tethering option that you're -not- required to have. Verizon's current data plans are $15 for 150MB, or $30 for unlimited. Customers are required to chose one of the two.

Yes, Sprint's base plan is cheaper, but for the purpose of this conversation, that doesn't matter.
In fact, it's sprint's absolutely horrible marketing about how cheap they are that's holding them back.
