How long before Verizon follows Sprint's lead and raises the price of data plans? I could see them going back to $44.99 across the board as it was before.

I can already say Sprint's $10.00 unlimited smartphone addon beats Verizon's $20.00 limited smartphone addon... let them jack up the price, make my job easier.

Besides for the fact that you're not comparing apple's to apples.

Sprint's add a line cost is $19.99 for everything data plans. then an extra $10 for the smartphone, and you're paying $30 a month for that line.

Verizon's add a line cost is $9.99 for their plans, then an extra $30 for any smartphone, but a credit of $10 a month, so $30 a month for that line.

As for making jobs easier, Sprint should hire a decent marketing team, because right now it is FAR easier than it should be to get a customer to switch from sprint to Verizon than it should be given the price gap.

Best thing is to totally ignore this guy. My question was geared toward actual Verizon customers and reps...not trolls. Yes, I am anything but a fan of VZW, but as a customer I have a vested interest in potential pricing changes. It was not an idle question.

To mirror and expand on what Menno said, I just want to point out

To Azeron: I highly doubt they'd do something as stupid as go back to the corporate data rate. If anything, they'd simply tier the data and go from there.

Ishamael, the $20 add on you're probably referring to is an optional tethering option that you're -not- required to have. Verizon's current data plans are $15 for 150MB, or $30 for unlimited. Customers are required to chose one of the two.

Sprint has rolled their data feature into their modern overall pricing, but has decided to require an additional $10 for smartphones.

You're talking about two very different data features. Sprint's $10 fee is just for owning and using the device. Verizon requires a $15 ...

At the end of the day, the cost is still more with Verizon, regardless of the why's behind it.

Were we talking about the base cost? Or were we talking about required data plans? I'm sorry, I must have read into that differently.

Actually it's not. We're talking about adding a secondary line to a family plan that's also a smartphone.

In this regard, both verizon and sprint are the same price (at least until jan 30th)

Yes, Sprint's base plan is cheaper, but for the purpose of this conversation, that doesn't matter.

In fact, it's sprint's absolutely horrible marketing about how cheap they are that's holding them back.

Those days are over. Now that they are talking out of both sides of their neck.

It wouldn't surprise me if they tacked on some extra charge to take advantage of 4G. Im excited for the release of there 4G devices with the 4G network as VZW is at the bottom of the totem-pole with data speeds.
