You had me at Wall Street Journal, the same rag that told me I'd be carrying a Verizon iPhone and a Verizon-capable iPad earlier this year.

Still, I think it's inevitable for Verizon and other carriers. Give it time.

Verizon COO Lower McAdam just last week said that "there's a place for unlimited," when asked about tiered data buckets. I guess all we can do is wait and see what happens.

The funny thing about WiFi is that not only does it exist almost everywhere I use my phone, but that most of those places actually have A/C power outlets, too.

Who cares how fast the battery is draining while it's plugged in?

Even if I did care about that, I would gladly pay a one-time $40 to get a spare standard battery or a one-time $60 to get an extended battery if it would save me $10 - $15 every month for a year and a half. I don't mind carrying around a spare battery, and I'd mind even less just adding 3mm to the dimensions of my pho...

My WiFi is connected for most of the day, wherever I go. The battery life is fine. Worst case scenario, my battery is a running low by 10PM (I unplug just after 7AM). Most nights, I plug it in before the low battery notification.

Oh, and my airplane mode turns off all connections, even WiFi. Luckily, I can turn off just the wireless network without airplane mode. Not that I need to.

Hitting the airplane mode on my Fascinate initially turns off the WiFi as well, but it's not a prohibited action to re-enable the Wi-Fi without reactivating the cellular antenna.

Two clicks instead of one, but well worth it, IMO.

Plus, I picked up this great free app called Timeriffic that I can configure to turn on Airplane mode then restore Wi-Fi connectivity on a set schedule so I can have it cut off and go to Wi-Fi only when I'm in class, then restore the cellular connection when I leave the university. It's worked out great for t...

I can't recall the app, but there was something I tried once that would work off of GPS (assuming you leave that running). When you show up for class, phone goes off, WiFi comes on. When you leave class, phone turns on, WiFi turns off. I used it to switch to WiFi when I get home.

Now, I don't bother with the app. WiFi at home, WiFi at work, 3G anywhere else. I still get through the day, using my phone as usual, from 7 to 11 every night. On the Incredible, no less.

Timerific sounds good, through. I always turn my sound off over night, that way all the 1AM pseudo-spam doesn't wake me up. I usually forget to turn the ringer back up in the morning. This app would fix that.
