I'd like to ask the age old question as I've searched the archives and didn't see exactly what I'm looking for, a basic phone for my wife. One without a data plan. I've found the W766 and the LG8360. Am I missing any others? I myself am going with the Rock as I am a firefighter and this one seems like the best option with the best reviews. But I ask in all humility, what say you much smarter people than myself? Thanks! 😁

The 8360 and W766 both require at least $9.99 data. You could go with the LG Accolade, Samsung Smooth, Motorola Rival, Samsung Intensity, Samsung Convoy, Motorola Barrage, or the Rock. That's about all that you can get that are current phones without data.

Didn't know that, thank you. I'm currently under contract with AT&T but will be coming over on March 30th. I'll check those out. Thank you very much!

In addition to these models you may still find stores stocking the LG 5500 (the model before Accolade), the Motorola VU204 (AKA Limerick), and the Samsung Trance. These are still sold in my own store.

The Limerick is a horrible phone, epik. Don't recommend that to a customer you guys want to keep.

I LOVE the self-ejecting all-purpose batter door! Why wouldn't I want a phone that's practically useless if I ever lose the back of it? Besides, I have to clear them out of my store somehow!

I only mentioned it because it was a
Simple
Feature Phone and it's available.

This reminds me of a point I often make to customers, and none of them really seem to listen: a phone is free for a reason, and it's not because you're asking for a free phone.

I got word today that the 766 won't require the data anymore...

don't know why the 8360 still would though...

pretty reliable source too, not sure when it would take effect however

I just confirmed that my W766's are not auto populating the data feature anymore. The 8360's are however. That's a start!

I would get either LG or Motorola, never had any luck with Samsung on Verizon network.
I still have LG Chocolate3 and love it.

The 8360 is a better phone, so will probably keep the data requirement. and thus keep people from buying it.
