Enough Already!

Everyone and their mother is already aware of your position on the requiring of data on phones. Simply put, if you want a smartphone then these are the plans Verizon offers for a smartphone. The same goes for Touchscreen phones with quality web browsers.

If you want a smartphone but dont plan to use those features then I am sorry but Verizon does not offer them.

Everyopne complains about requiring data but you know what? When I show a customer a smartphone and all the things they can do with a data package they either tell me 1 of 2 things.

1) That they want their phone to be able to do all that stuff and they are willing to pay for those features

2) That they dont feel they would use those features andthey want to loo...

the issue isn't data on smartphones as much (I used do do #DATA on my phone to show them how fast they use data) but that you need a data plan for the 8360 now

/facepalm

That's not the POINT. I know there are different models out there. But have you ever TRIED web surfing on an 8360? it's painful. If they want to require data on phones that can actually surf the web (env3/twist/etc) fine. but the 8360 was never billed as a web centric phone (I worked with the company at launch) it's Mobile Web 2.0 browser was NOT a selling feature. The music player, display, etc. were.

It doesn't make sense to require data on a phone that can only limp along with it. (like the 8360, Entice)

A FORCED 10 bucks for 25MB of data on an LG 8360 is a joke! Get your facts straight before you start in with the Enough Already threads!

I think the op was referencing customers who want a smartphone but don't want to pay for data. As far as the forced 10.00 for data, either get a basic phone, keep what you have or go elsehwere.....pretty simple. Complaining about it will not change the fact........

An 8360 is a basic phone!!!

Im okay with charging data for a feature phone like the Rogue or Env Touch. Those are high end "dumbphones".

But an 8360? Really? This is a pretty basic device. I think verizon got a little greedy with the phones that require a data plan.

Basic is the LG 5500, Samsung U350, Samsung Intensity. Pretty much any phone that can do VCAST or dashboard will be considered basic. Unfortunately the 8360 does VCAST.

I just don't think its fair to lump an 8360 in with a Samsung Rogue. 2 totally different phones. The 8360 is not a multimedia phone in my opinion.

We don't give a **** ma'am if you don't need DATA! If you want this illustrious lg 8360 from VZW that will be 29.99 for unlimited DATA!

haha, so true.

Like I said, Im okay with the 9.99 for truly high end dumbphones with higher quality web content.

But an LG 8360? Kind of a reach. I also thought the full qwerty moto rival was a reach.

We don't always agree, but you don't let me down. Straight with no BS. I give props to Menno and Epik, too. I can agree to disagree with you guys about VZW without feeling you are just towing the company line.

Haha, yeah, sometimes you just gotta tell it like it is.

Im really interested to see how these new price plans shake up wireless in the next 6 months. Should be fun!

you're an idiot....the 8360 is a 3g capable device. It does have access to the 3g network for data use so yet it will require a data plan. the 8360 IS NOT a simple feature phone.

I wonder if the 8360 is grouped in there because verizon polled which phones had the most data use/credit request? Just a thought...

Probably. The phone is popular due to its grand dad---the 8300. It's not as reliable mind you but that's how nostalgia works. We WISH it was an 8300 and it is the closest thing to one. I am sure many reps pushed it....before this required data hit. *Groan* The 8350 was so cheap feeling and had that hinge issue that one would think that it would have reversed the 8300 effect in any event.

For a while, the 8000 series was the flagship series for LG - before things shifted to keyboards and touch screens. After the 8300, the models that followed it seemed more like a really bad photocopy than a continuation.

MAn do I miss the 8300. I got the 8360 simply because of its bloodlines.

I agree that it shouldn't be required to get data on that particular model (since it's the same as the Moto W755) but that's the way it goes.

I say re-release the 8300!!

GREAT PHONE! The 8100 was solid, too. It just didn't have navigator.

That, and it was as thick an oak tree. I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing, but I can't imagine having an 8100 in my pocket after all the thinner phone I've carried. 🙂
