WOW, Big day and week for Verizon (Droid, Droid Eris, BB 8530, Choc Touch)

Ok,

So this may be one of the biggest weeks for verizon in recent history. With the combination of press releases for upcoming devices (8530, choc touch, Droid Eris, Casio Gzone Brigade), the release of an entire new platform for the company (android), and of course a sprinling of new blackberries (including whispers of a Tour 2 with a trackpad and wifi by Christmas). Verizon is poised to take over the industry and truly become in a leader in high end smartphones...Now all we need is that one "i" device, lol.

Verizon is moving in a whole new direction and with that direction comes changes to our contracts...like the new $350 ETF for smartphones. While I'm not a huge fan of this much of a jump from a $175 ETF, I do understand why they...

I still don't care about all these smart phones...but verizon is going to get more money out of me by providing what looks to be an amazing Type-V like design of the Brigade!! That's what I like about verizon they really try to make everyone happy even if it gets more money out of us. I don't see any other carrier rocking out phones like the Brigade!

What do you mean by "Type V like design"?

The Type-V was the first Casio G'zOne. It was followed by the Type-S, which was followed by the Boulder (they dropped the "type" moniker). There's both a new flip and a new side-flip full keyboard model coming out sometime soon.

He should have said "G'zOne style" I guess. Though some people maintain that the Type-V was the best in the series, the series itself was really the G'zOne series.

This is the Type-V:

Hi Chris,

I very rarely write on Phonescoop but follow it all the time. I have to say that you have been a valuable source of information and updates.

I especially like that you are always respectful and professional in answering questions or responding to inquiries.

Congrats on your 5 years and thank you for taking the time to educate those of us who are not as savvy (me) 😁

Phones for VZW are moving in a better direction. For 2010, look for the Palm Pre, and some new netbooks....possibly a Mac netbook also, new devices from LG, possibly a pda. But liking the new line up.

Totally forgot about the Pre and Palm Pixi, both should be pretty good.

I think LG might have a CDMA "droid" device in the next 12 mths on verizon.

And of course you know apple has prolly got something up their sleeve.

The LG droid device has good chance and so does the Apple device. With open developement and opening up the network, 2010 will be a good year. Keep up the go info Chris.....

OMG-I can't believe it; all of these posts and no pissing contest (lol). As a looonng time Vz customer ('95-4 lines currently, 3 of them BB) I share you'r guys enthusiam. My lovely wife was a Tmob customer until she came over for the S1 (ouch); can't wait to put her into the S2 (NE2 is in Jan, you forgot to mention the S2 by the way-haha). As for me I've become very interested in all of the new stuff from HTC, they seem to be getting better with every release. I'm especially jealous of the rumors that the HD2 will go to Tmob. What do we know about the Predator? Is this going to be a 2010 release and does it have the same size characteristics? Thanks in advance.

Haha, yeah I did forget about S2. I played with that phone yesterday and it was pretty cool. Much better than the first one. It was a joy to use.

And the HTC Passion/Predator is due out in December or possibly January. It should have almost the same specs as the HD2 (wifi, snapdragon processor, 5MP cam with flash, Android 2.0, super high res screen, etc). there are some lingering rumors that the Passion is going to be windows mobile, but I don't think those are true.

It's still overwhelming that a phone like the HD2 is finally coming to the U.S. market, it sure is about time.

However I have been MIA on here a lot over past few years. I used to post all the time years ago but all the trolling and constant AT&T VS. Verizon my dad can beat up your dad crap turned me off the site for a lng time and so I am just now starting to come back here after a long vacation over at HOFO, phonearena and Engadget.
