New customer with own equipment
I was given a BlackBerry 8330 from someone who used it previously on Verizon. The ESN is clear. I know that Verizon has a program where you can bring your own equipment (as a new customer) and be able to activate it without a contract. What is the name of this program? Some of the Verizon Rep's don't seem to know about it, so I want to refer to it by name when I call in to activate.

Haven't heard the term COAM (customer owned and maintained) since my pager days.
We call them CPE's (customer provided equipment).
But yea, like others said, no contract with your own equipment with regular credit check and act fee, like the others said.
...
Just go into a corporate store and advise the rep that you want to get new service and you have your own equipment. Just pick your plan, it should not be a activation fee or a contract.

There is no contract required, but it is a 35 activation fee (no matter if it is primary or secondary line) as epik said, the fee is non-waivable on a month to month contract.

Not sure why they don't know about it. If it's a corporate employee, phone or store, they should know about the monthly or month-to-month program that's been in effect for some time now.
You go through a standard credit check.
You get approved, deposit or not.
The rep selects monthly contract rather than 1 or 2 year contracts, then picks the plan you elected to have.
Phone is activated
$35 activation fee comes on first bill, non-negotiable per company policy on monthly contracts.
Not a hard thing, unless of course you're not talking to a corporate employee, or if for some reason there's some legality in your state that prevents monthly contract.

We can do them no problem at all. Send me a PM and I can get you going.
