Verizon Wireless said it closed on the $418 million acquisition of Qwest Communications International Inc.'s wireless assets, originally announced last July. The deal included Qwest's 1.9 GHz spectrum licenses, cell sites, CDMA network infrastructure, site leases and associated network equipment covering 30.8 million potential customers in 62 markets across 14 western states.

wow lol so vzw buyed qwest for millions, but bought spectrum from metroPCS for billions. hmm the irony.

Actually, the Verizon-MetroPCS spectrum deal cost $230 million, significantly less than the Qwest deal:

So, does anybody know when they're going to start using the newly acquired towers. Also, I heard in one post that these will only be used for high-speed data. Can anybody confirm or deny this?
