I Hate My iPhone

From page 19 of the April 5, 2009 NY Times Sunday Magazine:

I Hate My iPhone

The true story of a technological dissenter.

The iPhone was charging. Refined, introverted, mysteriously chilled, my new $200 tile of technology lay supine on a side table, gulping power from the wall.

Actually, the iPhone probably sips, like a lipsticky girl with a vodka drink. It usually does things in a cute way. Whatever. At 4 in the morning, I was in bed, fighting rage. I couldn’t stop thinking about that device’s tarty little face and those yapping “apps” you can download for it. The whole iPhone enterprise seemed to require so much attention, organization, explanation, praise, electricity. I know - I know: in th...

I Loved that story...But why did you post it in Verizon's forums? I tend to think ATT fan boys who tend to bask in the iPhone's glory, I found someone that actually hates the iPhone more than I hate my iPod touch. I don't get how people can purchase this piece of technology and on top of that if you want say an IM client have to purchase that too. Ah well...Maybe you'll switch to Verizon as its still the best in my eyes.

Check this story out from the NY Times online I found......

" A couple of weeks ago, my colleague Matt Richtel — a handsome devil if ever there was one — spoke truth to power. He said the thing that no one was saying, yet needed to be said. Here it is in a nutshell:

For all its abilities and powers, the iPhone is a tremendous pocket computer, but a lousy phone.

And he’s absolutely right. I’ve owned an iPhone 3G since Christmas, and I could add my voice to the growing angry chorus. See, before I was with Apple and AT&T, I was a Verizon customer for years. And I don’t know what it’s like where you live, but here in 212/718, you can’t swing a cat and not hit a big, strapping band of CDMA frequency. ...

When Verizon gets the iPhone many of you will change your tune. I hate the iPhone because of what it did to my AT&T business but I will probably carry one when it comes to Verizon.

How about an LTE iPhone in December for Dallas?

actually no I won't.

I have an itouch, and I'll sell that to anyone looking for it. I love it (the battery life sucks for wifi, but whatever). The iphone is a different story.

Apple needs to make some serious improvements before it's a decent enough phone for me to sell and call it a "good buy"

Just because verzion offers a phone doesn't mean I have to like it.

Heck, look at the glyde. You won't find many reps who will honestly say they love that phone.

Moral to the story...

Never fall in love with anything that can't love you back.

There isn't a phone out there that can do that.

Period.

Haha, funny article. Truth is, the iPhone is not for everybody. Just how a Windows Mobile phone is not for everybody. Just how a new Macbook Pro is not for your grandma that just wants to read something on the internet.

Here is an idea - - lets have the author of this article try out the Storm.. let me know how that goes, k?
