over worked and underpaid?

HelloEveryone

Mar 3, 2005, 2:38 PM
Authorized dealer reps:
Does anyone else work 9 or 11 hours shifts without breaks or 40+ hours with no overtime pay, or how about personal commission quotas that are higher than what the whole store sells?

(just wondering if I am alone in this biz)

p.s. or how about selling returned phones to customers as if they are brand new?

And just how many times and in how many places do you feel it necessary to post this? Yes, you are all alone, your job does suck and you should quit and go somewhere else. There, do you feel better now? πŸ™„

I work 13 hours sometimes without a break. In my state it is not illegal, which is BS imo. This is the only thing that really pisses me off about my job.

break time somewhat is covered in the Federal department of labor regulations. I suggest that you refer to them to assure your employer is in compliance. You can always call the department to ask them for clarification. It really comes down to what is in your contract and what has been historically done and paid for.

At least you get overtime! I am paid salary so i work 45-55 hours a week regularly and get paid the same base no matter whatπŸ™‚ I get commision of course, but never overtime. And what the hell is a break in sales, pile some food down your pie hole and get to the next customer.

breaks may not be federally mandated but it may be required in the employement contract. the employer must also be consistant with all the employees of the same status.

Montana does not have a mandatory rest or meal break as only seven states have this madated for the private sector.

29 CFR 785.18 - Rest.

* Section Number: 785.18
* Section Name: Rest.

Rest periods of short duration, running from 5 minutes to about 20
minutes, are common in industry. They promote the efficiency of the
employee and are customarily paid for as working time. They must be
counted as hours worked. Compensable time of rest periods may not be
offset against other working time such as compensable waiting time or
on-call time. (Mit...

Shouldn't this post be subtitled "Why I love posting in an inane manner?". How many times are you going to post this? In how many forums?
