Krave vs enV2 (Help!)

This is driving me nuts! 😕
I'm switching back to VZW next month and I thought I had my next phone all picked out. I was planning to go with the Motorola Krave. I love the form-factor, size, and features of it. I'm a little worried that the touch interface will be a pain sometimes, but I'm thinking that I'll get comfortable with it. But here's the thing: My wife just got a new phone through her job. She got the LG enV2 and that phone is seriously nice. It doesn't have a ton of flashy features and it doesn't WOW you with it's coolness factor, but it just plain works great. I have been helping her set it up over the last few days and it has really impressed me with how easy and intuiative it is. Everything about that phone jus...

I had the krave and I can tell you that the call quality is second to none. It is crystal clear. However that phone will drive you insane. I had 4 different ones in a 2 week period. Unless you have fingers the size of a q-tip just forget even trying to text on it. This phone caused me nothing but headaches. I wanted to love this phone so bad, but I just did not have the patience to deal with it.

enV2 is a workhorse. its rugged, great battery life, great reception, good features. but it is a little boring. its not flashy.

I have a friend from work who has an enV2. he has tried to get rid of it like 20 times getting diff phones like the curve, dare, voyager, krave, etc. and he always ends up reactivating his enV2 (and making excuses).

I had the enV2 and upgraded to the storm. Im thinking about going back to the enV2. its just a solid phone.

I really appreciate the input. It sounds like both of you agree with my hunch. I might just go with the enV2 and save myself the agrivation. millerlite36, was texting the only thing that drove you nuts with the Krave or were there other problems too?

I could go on forever, but yes there were other problems. i would say i took the battery out of that phone at least 3 times a day. constant screen freezes. kept gettin a "unknown error" message when trying to use the camera. when i finally had enough was when the phone would freeze every time i got a text message. i took the battery out about 10 times in a 3 hour period then went to store and got rid of it. its to bad because that phone is just like talking on a land line.

That is too bad. I was really excited about the Krave. But this is exactly the kind of information I needed. Oh well, the enV2 will save me money also. When I go in next month I'm getting two phones (me and my son). If I went with the Krave I'd be spending $179 for the Krave and $79 for his enV2. Now it will only cost me $79 for one enV2 and get a second one free.
*sigh...I was looking forward to the Krave but I had a feeling I would get these kinds of responses. I'm glad I asked.

I thought the enV2 was a little feminine. 😛
I was looking at the Krave as well because of the reviews touting it's call quality and although I don't text much it would be nice to have some resemblance of a QWERTY keyboard.
Plus I know there's a software update for it that may fix any problems others may have had with it.

I agree the maroon enV2 is a little feminine (that's what my wife got), but the black one looks fine for a man.

You missed the buy one at $79 and get one free deal with Verizon. I checked their website yesterday at 5:30, called a store to verify the special, then was very rudely told that that special was no longer available when I asked for it in the store at 6:00! I was wanting to activate and purchase 4 phones, but the run around that I was given yesterday just trying to get a deal that their website showed, has made me have second thoughts about that idea. Just thought I would give you a heads up 🙂

glad i found this thread because i've been reading reviews here and there, asking questions and finding little answers.

i have an env2, works great where i live (in hawaii) but where i'm currently stationed (southern california), i get horrible reception and call quality from it. in fact, where i live there is NO reception and barely any service. i've since then had to re-activate my old moto v3m and am able to at least hold a call but i don't want my v3m to be my primary device. is the call quality of the krave worth letting my env2 go?

thanks!!

Did you do *228 Option 2? That might help reception.

Weird. I am on the eastcoast, but my EnV2 has better service than most other phones in this area.

Moto has its faults, but reception, RF, call clarity not among them...if that is your main issue, you should do better with Motorola.

Yes, I'm beginning to see that. For any of you Verizon employees, is it possible to exchange my Env2 in the store for a motorola (of course upon my explanation of my dilemma)? VZW has already given me a free month due to lack of service and dropped calls. But my situation is still in the same rut. Wouldn't they rather give me a phone that works instead of letting me out of my contract early? I'd really rather not let my service go (been a customer since 2001) because I'm hoping that sometime in the future they'll put up a new tower nearby. Is this possible or should I just sell my env2?
