I have a question on how insurance works. I know you cannot get insurance on a phone that you buy off of ebay or somewhere else. But if I were to buy a phone directly from Motorolla brand new, is it possible to insure the phone??? Verizon no longer sells the V9 however moto's website still sells it. I would like to get one for my wife, however at $400 bucks i want to have insurance on it

I dont believe you can insure that, but I would just call your local vzw store and find out. I thought you had to get your phone from a corp store or an authorized agent to get insurance.

Yes you can. If you purchase a phone at full retail price or at a discounted price (if you're eligible) thru VZW, then you can add insurance on the phone.

question was if the phone was purchased directly from Motorola, not full retail through vzw.

millerlite36 was right, i'd call a cor store or agent.

or even call the insurance company verizon uses and asks them.

or better yet, what I would do is call all the local vzw cor and retailers around you and just check to see if they have any in stock that they probably never sold.

i work at an at&t authorized retailer and I have a couple old phones that i've had over a year!

hope this helps

Also, you may want to call Asurion. If you buy the phone and something happens to it, are they even going to have them in stock for insurance replacements or will you end up getting another type of phone "comparable" to it. I don't want you to buy then phone then something happen to it and Asurion give you a completely diff phone
