Storm Availability...

I 'm not sure if this is correct. Will I be able to walk in to a VZW Corp and pick one up Friday? I've heard conflicting reports. I'm not in the industry, so any help is appreciated. People on BGR are saying direct fulfillment only? does that mean I can walk in and they have to order it and send it to me? Will they have any on hand to sell? Should I just take my chances and go up there when they open?

I am not sure, I know my boy is a manager at the Verzion store in the Michigan area and they got their Storms today and he can't give me one until Friday morning. He is going to let me in the store before everyone gets there.

No you won't be able to walk in. Each store has at least 40-50 people that will be waiting at the door at 7am or coming in by 9am. These will be sold out by 9:30. And remember, they have to be in stock to do an exchange to all those people who bought phones in the past 30 days and want the Storm.

They will not be held and overnight shipping will not be waived. If you want a storm Friday, get there at 6am. If you want by Sat, order Friday before 3pm and ask for overnight Sat delivery ($18 bucks I think). If you are exchanging or buying at full retail... please stay home and order online. If you are upgrading come in later in the day and order one.

Happy hunting

lol @ YOU

Because you know about what EVERY single corporate store will be like on the 21st. Most people prolly dont even know the actual release date.

And these list? Most of them are not official "you are guaranteed a storm list", they are just call list. So that you will know when it comes in, but you are not guaranteed a unit. Hell, my buddy is corp store manager and he is not even taking a list from prospective customers.

They have over 400,000 units ready to go, I highly doubt that all of those will be bought up this weekend.

People are freaking out about the release and I have a feelin that there will be plenty of units to go around. Its not the iphone, and the marketing has been good, but not great. I guess we will ...

My contract is over 2 years old. I have waited this long for a phone, so I suppose I can wait until closer to Christmas if I have to so I can see the Storm, Saga, and Omnia. One of these will be my next phone. I am happy to finally have some nice choices.

This is a response to both cwcanty and Corporate_dil.

Reports state that 400,000 are being shipped to stores for the launch. Even I don't know if this is accurate (pertaining to the launch initial stock), but it seems to me that they'd have more in the warehouse for online orders, telesales orders, employee purchases (VZW employees - look in Infomanager for directions, you might not be able to use MyVerizon), and for when the stores run out.

Every store, every district, every region is trying to make this launch work consistently across the country. Still, each store is unique. There are four stores near my home. Two open at 7AM. The other two open at normal time (10AM for the Circuit City, 9AM for the mall store).

Of the two...

Well put.

Everyone needs to know that every store is receiving a max of 15 storms. There will be plenty to order though. 2-10 business days.

I love VZW but why not push the release date back 5 days and make sure everyone is happy, I know why it was delayed and I get it.

Bottom line, We will all be happy in the next two weeks, no sooner then that

Admittedly, I don't know how many phones are going to be sent to each store. But I find it hard to believe that each store would only receive 15 when this is being billed, internally, as Verizon's largest device launch ever.

Additionally, most stores received about 40 Voyagers when it launched a year ago, and until now, that was previously the company's largest device launch ever.

Plus, the fact that employees will be able to order the device on day one tells me that they have more than enough stock to cover the inundation of employee orders. They didn't let any employee buy the Voyager for three months, and the Dare for about six months. A friend of mine even had his wife buy one in a store and try to assume liability of her ne...

Stores will receive more than 15 storms. Larger high volume stores may receive anywhere from 50 to 100. Not all stores will receive the same allotment. This is why they are pushing for online ordering.

You are wrong justmarried. The A store in this district with the largest clientele is only receiving 30, while most of the other A stores in this district are receiving no more than 20. The kiosks inside Circuit City and BJ's are receiving 5. Verizon is clearly trying to control the inventory, which is a good and bad thing. The good part is that customers will place orders for these, and it will be a fair game for sales reps no matter what store you are at. The bad news is, customers will have to wait a few more days to actually get theirs in the mail. By the way the top A store in this district is one of the top 25 stores in the country.

15 Per store sounds insane!

In the Philly area for the iPhone 3G where there was an Apple Store, the Retail at&t stores had close to no stock while the Apple Store had tons -

On another note, I cannot remember where I read this but the person mentioned it was the expectation of RIM and VZW to sell 1,000,000 units by 12/31 - that also sounds kinda crazy.

I am getting to my local VZW store at 6:15, the store opens at 7:00.
