I have a discount through my employer and I was curious if anyone knows what the price will be for a new two year on the Storm. We do get equipment discounts but I cant seem to find an answer to the question.....

None of our information shows the pricing for corporate and employee-liable discounts yet. I could venture a guess, though. Based on how the corporate pricing structures changed in the western US, I could put a strong bet on the Storm being $199.99 without need of a rebate.

Currently, the Storm is $5 more than retail pricing on the highest tier discounts. It's $104.99 on the best corporate discount, or $169.99 - $70 MIR ($99.99 after rebate) on the shelf.

Corporate pricing isn't what it used to be. But then again, what market is the same as it was a year ago? Five years ago? Yeah.

I also get corporate discounts. 21% off service, 25% off accessories, and some random generated pricing discounts off phones. however, last time I tried buying a phone with the corporate disc, I would have had to wait until its available for the discounted pricing. I wanted my phone as soon as it came out, so I had to pay regular price. If I waited a few weeks I could have had my phone at a corp discount.

So to all you who want the BBerry at corp discount, you may have to wait a few weeks. Unless things have changed since last year.

Also, that phone doesn't have as much hype behind it as the storm does. Verizon is most likely taking a larger than normal hit on the price of the storm than they would otherwise, which means that any additional discounts would be too high for verizon to take until demand for the phone dies down a bit.

Also, they might be trying to get as many people signed up for a data plan as possible (they do love data, afterall) so they want to get this phone into the hands of as many new-to-smartphone users as they can.

Price will invariably come down (at least on the corporate end of things) once demand subsides.

I haven't seen them launch a phone without corporate pricing on day one in a very long time. Sometimes, I talk to people who have a corporate discount who went into a store on day one and heard the corp pricing, and could only assume it wasn't set up yet. Even our own Verizon people assume that.

Let me assure you, they don't casually get around to setting up a price structure when they feel like it. It's set up LONG before day one on a new phone. If it seems like there's no corporate discount, that's because there ISN'T one.

In this area, corporate pricing has become more of an instant rebate situation than anything else. I'd estimate that about half the phones are cheaper on the consumer pricing with rebate. Really, all they're ...

I agree with this one...many of our retail prices are better than the corporate prices. Except on certain handsets (Boulder comes to mind).

Think of it this way: if it increases profit, it gets a discount.

Blackberry devices are almost double the normal subsidy - they require at least an extra $30 a month.

Boulder and Adventure are heavily subsidized on corporate pricing. In this area, there is an extra $30 discount when adding the PTT feature. All in hopes of making an extra $5 a month for something the phone practically did already - connect to another device on the same network.

If it brings in more monthly residuals, it gets a bigger discount. Simple as that.
