i currently have a wireless usb modem from verizon and i noticed that i have a new charge for 1 cent this month. it was a state sames tax, but this is the first time this charge has been on the bill. i have had this service since april and this has never happened to me. i was wondering if this could cause a break in contract and cause me to terminate without an etf.
...
most likely you cannot break contract over this. the policies in place say that sales tax, fed tax will change at the fcc's/state discretion. this in my opinion would mean that taxes could go up drastically and we wouldnt be able to do anything about it.
vzw and other carriers are trying to push mandate that will prevent taxes from being increased for the use of the plans due to the burden it puts on its customers.
rest assured that vzw has your back on this one.
(this is just my understanding on it, i appologise if im not 100% accurate in my response)

I try to avoid being overly snarky in these forums, however if $0.01 per month is enough to cause you a financial hardship, should you really have wireless service? Or even be typing on an internet forum? That computer and monitor you are using require electricity ya know?
😁 😁 😁

can somebody please tell me why this charge suddenly appeared this month and not any other month

Ask your local tax commission why your monthly tax went up one cent.
I don't ask the people at Wal-Mart why taxes whet up 0.01% last year - they're not in charge of taxes.
...
It sounds like your state either added a new tax or raised a tax and it just took affect this month.
...
will that cause a break in contract?

As stated before and in your contract: VZW doesn't determine tax rates, the state/fed. does.
If you go to a restaurant to get a meal and it costs you $10 the first visit and a week later taxes go up and it costs $10.01, you wouldn't ask not to pay. You'd have to talk to someone above the establishment.

The only breech of contract would occur if Verizon changed their billing, either their per minute rates, their plan costs, etc and they didn't grandfather your plan in so the change didn't effect you for the remainder of your contract.
Taxes are not part of your contract pricebecause verizon has no control over them. As stated they are fighting to "Freeze" taxes at the time of contract startup to help their customers. If you want to complain about the extra penny, you complain to your elected representatives. since it is so close to the election, they'll promise you the moon, but they'll forget about it on november 5th.

Here's why not...
"You agree to pay all taxes, fees and surcharges set by the government. We may not always give advance notice of changes to these items. If you're tax–exempt you must give us your exemption certificates and pay for any filings we make."
Go to vzw.com and click on Customer Agreement at the bottom of the page. It's in there.
